Corruption Within the Bremer Coalition Provisional Authority Demands that Congress Try to Act Responsible with an Investigation.
The New York Times is reporting that an American contractor is being charged with paying kick-backs and bribes to an unnamed number of Americans in the occupation authority and their spouses.
Couple this with the article in the American Conservative (Pat Buchanan’s magazine) where it is alleged that one and a half billion dollars ($1,500,000,000) was handed over to an unnamed and unidentified person and you have the makes of a scandal much larger than the Food for Oil scandal. Which the Congress invested untold hours and energy investigating.
It would seem that the Congress has a duty to find out to what extend graft, corruption and criminal activity took place under Paul Bremer. It is irresponsible of the Republican Congress to just accept this as “shit-happens,” in particular at a time when the Congress is cutting social programs for the lower and middle-class in THIS country.
