Just sent this email to Danny Bubp--
Dear Colonel Bupb,

I am writing to express outrage at the tactics of yourself and Representative Jean Schmidt last Friday, November 18, 2005, in the U.S. House of Representatives. How dare you question the bravery of Representative Murtha via that sleazy Jean Schmidt? Being the big, brave, patriotic ex-marine that you are, sir, why use that silly dupe to delivery your message to Mr. Murtha?

Calling him a "coward" because he differs with the leader of your party of lies and duplicity. Who on God's green earth do you think you are? Mr. Murtha is twenty times the American patriot you will ever be, and I venture to guess that he could kick your sorry ass any day of the week.

I hope you people sleep well at night, but trust me, the karma train has a long memory, and it will stop at both your stations.

Sincerely,

16. Bubp never saw a single day of combat
<snip>

A quick glance at Bubp's background reveals him to be a low-level right-wing operative who has spent more time in the past ten years engaged in symbolic Christian right crusades than he has battling terrorist evil-doers. And throughout his career, Bubp's destiny has been inextricably linked with Schmidt's. Bubp may be a Marine, but his view of Murtha as a "coward" is colored by naked political ambition. He is nothing more than cheap camouflage cover for the GOP's latest Swift-Boat campaign.

March 1999 marked the beginning of a brilliant career. It was then that Bubp became pro-bono legal counsel for Adams County for the Ten Commandments, an ad-hoc Ohio group formed to keep 10 Commandments monuments displayed in local public schools after the ACLU filed a lawsuit demanding their removal. Bubp was assisted by a Who's Who of Christian right leaders, including James Dobson, Don Wildmon, Judge Roy Moore and Jay Sekulow. The campaign was organized primarily by Rev. Rob Schenck, a former leader of the militant anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, who was once detained for threating Bill Clinton's afterlife at the National Cathedral. (Read my profile of Schenck for the Washington Monthly for the full story on this, and many more bizarre stunts).

When the monuments' removal seemed imminent by 2003, Bubp nevertheless declared, "We've already won." Thanks to Schenck, he was able to help distribute 600 yard signs reading "We Stand For The Ten Commandments" throughout Adams County. And the devoted network of activists formed during the 8-year-long struggle would toil on his behalf when he ran for the Ohio legislature in 2004.

Bubp was elected despite a successful legal maneuver by his former primary challenger to unseal his divorce file. Bubp fought tooth-and-nail to keep these records in the dark because, according to the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, "the file does contain sensitive tax and personal information he'd just as soon keep private." Whatever information emerged was overlooked by a local press focused on national races.

During the campaign, Bubp still found time to help his friend, Schmidt, who was struggling to counter the momentum of her Democratic challenger, Iraq war veteran Paul Hackett. At a Schmidt rally falsely billed as an event to honor war veterans, Bubp appeared in full Marine battle dress uniform to attack Hackett for criticizing his "Commander in Chief." " "I served for eight years under a president who loathed the military," Bubp said, referring to Clinton. "But we never said a word about it."

17. Alternate email for Jean Schmidt: Joe Braun (Experienced Dom seeks Sub)

#6 Joe Braun

But guess what? It turns out that Jean Schmidt isn't just a smear-artist: she's a first-rate hypocrite. In her primary campaign, Schmidt's platform included "promoting family values." But last week it was revealed that her campaign manager, Joe Braun, is not exactly your conservative family-values type.

DailyKos diarists discovered that some emails unintentionally bounced back from the Schmidt campaign showed that mail addressed to joe@jeanschmidt.com was actually being forwarded to his AOL address, deanofcorn@aol.com . After some intrepid Googling, it was revealed that deanofcorn@aol.com showed up on two intriguing websites: the first was the Scioto County Ohio Republican Party, and the second was collarme.com, "the largest BDSM community on the planet."

Deanofcorn's listing appears to have since been removed - but never fear, here's a screenshot:

Yes, it turns out that Joe Braun is apparently an experienced Dom seeking a sub for long term exploration and training. His specialities include collar & cuffs, wax play, and medical exams. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. It just seems a tad odd considering he's the campaign manager of a family values Republican who is currently engaged in a smear campaign against an Iraq war veteran. Although now I come to think of it, it's actually not that odd at all.

Maybe Joe Braun's safeword was "Cut-and-run"?

Why do I get the feeling that Jean Schmidt, Joe Braun, and Danny Bubp all partied in Jeff Gannon's private dungeon?

14. a coward like Schmidt who hasn't
fought for anything with her sweat and blood has the audacity to call a Marine and a War Hero a coward. And don't forget that the regugs in the house urged her on.

There is no doubt that these repug idiots hate the military, America, and love treason.

21. Maiden Speech by the Honorable Jean Schmidt
Public Statements
Speaker: Representative Jean Schmidt (OH)
Title: Maiden Speech by the Honorable Jean Schmidt
Location: Washington, DC
Date: 09/06/2005

MAIDEN SPEECH BY THE HONORABLE JEAN SCHMIDT -- (House of Representatives - September 06, 2005)

(Mrs. SCHMIDT asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute.)

Mrs. SCHMIDT. Mr. Speaker, I stand here today in the same shoes, though with a slightly higher heel, as thousands of Members who have taken the same oath before me. I am mindful of what is expected of me both by this hallowed institution and the hundreds of thousands of Americans I am blessed to represent. I am the lowest-ranking Member of this body, the very bottom rung of the ladder; and I am privileged to hold that title.

This House has much work to do. On that we can all agree. We will not always agree on the details of that work. Honorable people can certainly agree to disagree. However, here today I accept a second oath. I pledge to walk in the shoes of my colleagues and refrain from name-calling or the questioning of character. It is easy to quickly sink to the lowest form of political debate. Harsh words often lead to headlines, but walking this path is not a victimless crime. This great House pays the price.

So at this moment, I begin my tenure in this Chamber, uncertain of what history will say of my tenure here. I come here green with only a desire to make our great country even greater. We have much work to do. In that spirit, I pledge to each of you that any disagreements we may have are just that and no more. Walking in each other's shoes takes effort and pause; however, it is my sincere hope that I never lose the patience to view each of you as human beings first, God's creatures, and foremost. I deeply appreciate this opportunity to serve with each of you. I very much look forward to getting to know you better, and I humbly thank you, Mr. Speaker, for allowing me to address this humble body.
