4. Do you really think he'll be running again?
Edited on Mon Nov-21-05 10:27 PM by Walt Starr
I'm doubting he's even a potential at this point. I don't think he'll run at all regardless of the support he may have. He'll endorse Hillary is my guess.

16. Again, my expectation is he will endorse Hillary early on and won't run
In fact, it is my opinion that the only reason he even got in the game last go around was to insure a Democratic defeat by taking votes away from the only person who stood a chance of defeating the chimp.

Hillary was not ready to run in '04, and it is my opinion that is the ONLY reason Clark got into the thing.

He'll work for Hillary in '08. Mark my words.

71. Yes, It's Only One State, But Does Anybody Remember How That Was IGNORED?
It looked like the MSM ignored him - There was one report of a bus getting a speeding ticket in Oklahoma or Ohio, and that was it! Since he won Oklahoma by a small margin, for whatever reason, it got NO recognition till two weeks later. Wes deserved a lot more respect than he got, and to say that the ONLY reason he got into the race in 2004 was to get Dean out is not fair IMO, and I'm trying to be as nice about this as I can. I like Walt's posts - a lot. He's a legendary poster here IMO, and it feels weird to disagree with him. I'm intimidated for my own reasons. Oh well, my 2 cents for the day. Maybe I got this all wrong. (I don't really think that.)

77. I think that Clark was treated unfairly by the MSM
(Of course that was true of all the Democratic candidates who had any chance of winning.)

I thought that the constant harping on him by whores like Tim Russert to repudiate Michael Moore, for example, was particularly disgusting. If Bush ever received the same treatment from the MSM he wouldn't have gotten 20% of the vote in the general election.

Realistic in thqat he'll stay in it through the entire thing.

I don't expect Clark or Edwards to get in it and last very long. Edwards may start, but I don't think he'll even make it to the first primary. I don't expect Clark to start at all. I expect him to endorse Hillary.

Would like to say Warner, but he'll have only one term as governor under his belt (isn't it four years?) and that may not be enough to win a good base over. I could say Edwards, he's been really active in "doing good works"...

27. Warner will be the nominee
Normally I question our handicapping skills but this one is just so obvious I don't see how we screw it up. The only potential stumbling block is if our voters in New Hampshire and Iowa are gun shy about the "electability" aspect after faultily applying that tag to Kerry and not Edwards in 2004.

Once the campaign heats up in mid-to-late 2007 Warner will be the "in" choice like Dean in 2003 but this time the fundamentals are proper and will be sustainable.

But then again, they'll probably swift-boat whoever is the '08 candidate.

67. Honestly...
Your issue with not being able to vote for Clark could have been changed A LOT if Clark had decided to campaign here in Iowa. I think Clark's message of a sensible foreign policy and his military background would have done well here. Had he placed in the top 2-3 here things would have been a lot different.

IMO

Oh, and I don't even want to get into the Iowa hatin...I think we should be careful what we wish for. Basically I agree that we need a change, and there should be another, possibly South Western, state included in the early mix...but a large-scale change would hurt more than it would help I think.

40. I decided to vote for one of the people on your list rather than "other"
and of the people on your list I think Mark Warner may be the most interesting. He would be new and exciting, kind of like when Jimmy Carter first came on the national scene. Also, voters seem to prefer Governors to Senators. I love Feingold, but I'm not sure he would win a national campaign. The only thing I worry about is he only has one term as Governor as experience, but then that is all Carter had too.

44. Wake Me Up In late 2007...
How many people here knew of Howard Dean in November, 2001? Honestly. I'll bet there are a lot here who had no clue who Wesley Clark or even Dennis Kucinich was. And who were the front-runners then? Liebermann? Sure wasn't how things looked in November, 2003.

I know there's campaigning already going on here, and I find it amusing, but to trying to handicap an election 3 years away is like trying to predict that year's World Series winner. In the meantime, I'll stay amused with all the "my candidate is better than yours" game that constantly plays here.

Any time he runs, I'll be there.

I don't have much interest in the other choices, or the "others," either. Give me another candidate with the integrity, consistency, courage, insight, and willingness to fight for:

universal single-payer not-for-profit health care
campaign/election reform
a department of peace
universal preschool- college for all
no more nafta cafta, withdrawal from wto
environmental responsibility
federal budget invested into public infrastructure rather than foreign wars

I'll get enthusiastic. Until then, Dennis is my sole choice.

79. Other-Clark
He is busy helping turn America Blue, backing and campaigning for candidates for the 2006 election. My hope is for clark to run again, he's the real deal and no I do not think he will back Hillary early.

got to get back to the work he asked his supporters to do. WORK ON 2006 TO TURN CONGRESS BLUE.

89. Here's a thought: look at what people said in '02 & '03
when Bush was most popular. Did they stand up for the truth when it wasn't popular?

While that might not be the politically "smart" thing to do, it shows they won't betray us in the clinch like most of the so-called leaders you mentioned.
