The REAL story of THANKSGIVING (nice)
Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 01:00 PM by uppityperson
We are thanking mother earth and father sky and god. Mother earth and father sky for the food they give us and god for making mother earth and father sky.

So said my child at 4 years of age and all my family looked at each other and agreed.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Peace

1. Very nice.
He was a bright 4 year old but what can you expect with such a cool Mom.

 may you and yours have a lovely day.

Peace and thank you for the story.

2. Thank you and you too.
It rather stopped us all in our tracks and did away with the "pilgrim/indian" myth for all of us since this is what it is about. Harvest festival thanking mother earth father sky god.

When we asked him what type of food, he thought a bit and slowly said "father sky gave us crows, and mother earth gave us bears" and ran off. (We'd recently moved from AK and no, never ate a crow or bear)

Happy today to you.

3. Where did your child get that idea?
Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 02:01 PM by nuxvomica
Is it Native American? Wiccan? Or just plain common sense? Regardless, I will keep that sentiment with me and remind others today that as Americans we are especially blessed by the earth and the sky and should show our "parents" more respect. Peace to you and yours.
