A reminder as to why *'s numbers are down:
The populace is far more concerned about their futures and ability to even LIVE than what some rampant tinpot dictator wannabe may or may not be plotting.

Without a solid job and means of living, people will not give a flying frig. Indeed. What precisely is left TO defend? Or even want to defend? And I think even the neocons didn't anticipate that either.

If a crash comes, people will be apathetic. They will have nothing they feel is worth defending anymore. End of story.

The existing enlistment figures seem to be proving that too.

And you can thank reaganomics and the excessive individualism/forget others/opportunism/dog-eat-dog that the same fools told folks to believe in. Whoops! :dunce:

So, how is *co going to deal with a collapsed economy, thanks to his corporate buddies' doings, tens of millions of homeless Americans, and so on? Prompt a nuke war with a competing nation? (After all, terrorists (would) no longer have any clout.)

1. Actually, I think a crash would eradicate apathy.
Certainly it would spawn myriad social evils - crime, drug abuse, alcoholism, child abuse, murder, violence, and so on - but not political apathy. There is nothing more dangerous to the powerful than a man with nothing to lose. People would organise damn quickly. And if and when a crash hits, all that right-wing BS about welfare queen and stay-at-home money would evaporate. The precise moment people saw what was happening in their neighbourhood, on their street, to their friends and families, you can bet they'd stop listening to the well-paid talking heads slamming welfare from the comfort of their TV studios.

2. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but only 34% ...
