Ain't that a bitch. I think he just breeds disaster. It follows him around like a gigantic bumbling puppy.

Polluted water reaches Chinese city

A slick of toxic river water reached the Chinese city of Harbin today, threatening to pollute water supplies to almost four million people. An explosion at a chemical plant nearly two weeks ago released more than 100 times the safe level of benzene into Songhua river, and officials have now warned residents of the city, the capital of north-eastern China, to watch for symptoms of benzene poisoning.

As yet, no cases of poisoning have been reported, but hospitals have been ordered to prepare for contamination victims. Heavy doses of benzene can cause anaemia and kidney and liver damage.

Also today, a blast shook a chemical factory in the south-western province of Sichuan, killing one person and injuring three. It raised fears of benzene contamination in the nearby town of Danjiang, Xinhua reported.

1. I think CBS was sovietizing China this morning.
It sure sounded a lot like the things we used to hear about the Soviet Union, plus if you ignore the fact that our own government works just as hard at ignoring disasters as theirs, the whole report/criticism was rather odd.

2. China has a history of not keeping up with the Safety Standards
recognized here in America....that Bush slowly wants to reduce because of pressure from Manufacturors...something to do with ...cost

Maybe we should not only keep the existing safety systems but look into an upgrade???
