West coast 911 dispatchers pissed at the calls about people cutting in lines waiting for Walmart to open.

America shines today. UNITED WE STAND :sarcasm:

2. If someone told me that the callers were being paid to call 911
in order to create news about lines at WalMart, I wouldn't be surprised.

3. has to be a joke
seriously, is their anyone so hidious as to waste the time of emergency responders for line cutting? Or worse yet, are the folks so worked up that they are rioting over line-cutting and hence rioting is leading to emergency calls?

Joke, right?

5. Not a joke. CNN reporting 911 getting hundreds of calls.
See, cutting in line is a serious emergency that hurts 'Murica and must be dealt with immediately.

UNITED WE STAND (until Walmarts doors open). :sarcasm:

7. "hundreds of calls"
no way. One or two jerks abusing our emergency systems, perhaps, but "Hundreds"? Someone is pulling the leg of CNN. As someone posts elsewhere... a planted PR story for Walmart - to subtly tell everyone the lines are long at Walmart and they better get to their nearby Walmart before the shelves are cleared?

8. Real Story
Police Dispatcher: “Sheriff’s Department. How can I help you?”

Caller: “Yeah, I’m over here at the Burger King drive-through.”

Dispatcher: “Uh huh.”

Caller: “I asked them four different times to make a Western BBQ Burger. OK, they keep giving me a hamburger with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions and I said I’m not leaving. I want a Western Burger because I just got my kids from tae kwon do and they’re hungry. I’m on my way home and I live in San Clemente.”

Dispatcher: “Ma’am, we’re not going to go down there to enforce your Western Bacon Cheeseburger.”

The caller stayed on the line for five minutes and eventually gave up.

9. I don't buy it
this has future urban myth written all over it. And the fact that CNN reported it helps convince me.

11. And its only 8 in the morning.
Geez. All this consumerism is taking away the meaning of the holidays. These people aren't even saving any money-the stores just say that there's a sale without reducing the prices hardly at all and people go in to these places and spend just about their entire day fighting people at the malls for the last toy on the shelf, fighting for parking, going to the next mall for the things they couldn't get in the first one, then repeat the whole process until they're totally broke.

16. When I was a cop, a gas station attendant called to report a larceny.
A guy had shorted him a penny - A PENNY - on a tank of gas. Meanwhile, all hell was breaking out on the other end of town. Some people have no common sense.
