Would you support anti-machete legislation and/or registration?
And at a yearly fee no less.

"AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE POSSESSION OF A MACHETE

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.

Subsection (b) of section 10 of chapter 269 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition is hereby amended by inserting after the word “inches”, in line 67, the following word:- , machete.

SECTION 2. Said subsection (b) of said section 10 of said chapter 269, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following paragraph:-

For purposes of this section, “machete” means “a heavy knife at least 18 inches in length and having a blade at least 1.5 inches wide at its broadest measurement. This subsection shall not apply to carrying a machete on one’s person or in a vehicle if the machete is carried for the purpose of cutting vegetation or if the machete is being transported for the purpose of cutting vegetation. In a prosecution of a violation of this subsection, there shall be a permissible inference that such carrying of a machete is not for the purposes of cutting vegetation. Such presumption may be rebutted.

Any individual who requires a machete for the purposes of cutting vegetation shall register the machete with the local police department on an annual basis and, upon payment of an appropriate annual registration fee as determined by the local granting authority, shall be issued a permit authorizing him to possess the machete solely for the purposes of cutting vegetation."

The Second Amendment doesn't specify exactly what "arms" are.

Just sayin'.

But harsh language and verbal threats like "go away, don't bother me" have a chilling effect on would be hooligans.

6. First they went after the gun owners
and I didn't own a gun so I didn't care.

Then they went after the pit bull owners, and since I owned a Shi-Tzu I didn't care.

When they came after the machete owners, there was no on left to stand up for me.

Now I'm trimming my brush with nail clippers.

It will take an awful long time.

Never know what those little rascals will get into without proper supervision or safety education.

God forbid that they might actually bring them to school someday.

27. Machetes don't kill people, morons with machetes kill people
You may think this is trivial and a bunch of horseshit from gun loonies, but it's a serious issue to those who have to hack their way through the rain forests of Upper Falmouth, Marblehead and Gloucester. <snicker>

15. What a load of crap.
Do you suppose this is some racist bullshit aimed at people who traditionally use machetes?

" In a prosecution of a violation of this subsection, there shall be a permissible inference that such carrying of a machete is not for the purposes of cutting vegetation."

Wouldn't that be a Presumption of Guilt?

Annual fee. Suppose there's enough machetes in MA that they can fix their budget shortfall that way?

16. I used a Machete Almost Daily
When I did land surveying work.
It did come in handy at times in keeping
angry land owners and dogs from getting too close.

I only had one "accident" cutting brush in 10 years time.
The machete bounced back and opened my shin. I ripped off my shirt pocket for a bandage and used survey tape to hold it on.
On the way to the hospital, the company truck was cut off in traffic by 2 jerks and some road rage ensued. At the next stop light they jumped out of their car and headed back toward our truck.
I step out the trucks passenger door, machete in hand,
covered in my own blood & sweat. These two morans took one look
at me and couldn't get back to their car fast enough.
I've always wondered what they might have been thinking as
they sped away? "Damn Bubba that was stupid, why you wanna start a sword fight w/Zorro?"

28. Machetes = Freedom
I'll gladly give away our nations wealth through tax cuts for the top 2%. I'll gladly allow the President to lead us into an unnecessary war, killing thousands of American soldiers. I'll gladly give away Mom & Dad's social security and medicare. I'll gladly give away my good wages and benefits. I'll gladly allow 50 million Americans to live without health insurance, just as long as somebody protects my right to own an assault machete.
