Senator Gordon Smith (R) wants the US to reclaim its tech superiority...

Here's how, and he says:

"The US needs to get its act together quickly and recommit to science," said Smith in his speech that called for a US turnaround on issues that he feels may become barriers for IT industry investments and may lead to offshoring of employment. He focused on the need to increase government spending in physical sciences, math and science education, revised immigration laws with an incentive of citizenship for foreign students after graduating from university, as well as tax policy.

"There are economic macro forces that pressure the Western world to remain competitive," he said. Ultimately, the US government would have to reform its "antiquated tax system" to keep firms such as Intel investing in the US: "I believe that we are moving from fairness taxation to a model of efficient taxation," he said. According to the Senator, the next session of congress will dedicate "considerable" time on the issue of tax policy.

Oh, So bringing in foreigners with our tax money to help make them citizens is the answer?

Bollocks, you rat bastard. You lot think we're all worthy of rotting on the sidewalk by saying and doing this.

How about helping us who are here, right now? People losing their IT jobs, homes, belongings, you-fuckin-name-it and you'd rather do this? You are a filthy traitor. (or are you bending over so the Chinese won't pull their investments out of a doomed currency that much more quickly, in which case you're still a traitor?)

Never mind that corporate america made the cost of living that is now deemed "too expensive".

Governor Kulongoski has this to say:

"I cannot compete with China or Singapore on a financial basis," he told TG Daily. "But", he added, "the cheapest one will not win." Instead of increasing tax incentives he counts on creating "other" value. "In the end, it's a brainpower game," he said. He believes that government investments into education ultimately will pay off, create a qualified workforce and convince firms such as Intel to stay in Oregon and the US.

Remember. The enemy of an enemy is not your friend. You can bring in all the Chinese you want. Better screen them considerably first; they might be spies. But a spy for China? Operating in America? Perish the thought, that's impossible! :eyes:

Plenty of Americans here at home who are far more trustworthy and still they want to see us all rot.

Nice.

1. he needs to take this up with the repuke fundies who reject
empiricism in favor of the "god did it all and that's all i need to know" philosophy. in other words, the "dumbing down" of science education in amerika today.
