Is Christmas the wingers most Sacred Cow or Pledge of Allegiance?
Which subject is the one they think they can divide America with the easiest? It is all about Divisivness. Gay marriage, Flag Burning, Pledge of Allegiance, now Christmas....Do they have more yet to come?

2. This is a seasonal effort at distraction, not an ongoing campaign
If you are talking about Xmas, you aren't talking about the planting of propaganda in Iraqi newspapers. If you are talking about Xmas, you are not talking about holding prisoners in gulags in cooperative third nations. If you are talking about Xmas, you are not talking about the war, the dead, the absurd expenditures, the graft, the corruption, both domestic and international....it's all about eating up the news cycle.

It's so much easier when a young blonde goes missing, the media does the work for them. But when no salacious tabloid story looms to eat up the air time, they have to come up with a faux outrage to try to chip away at the real issues.

4. I agree -- well said.
It's just another distraction, something they think they can get their base fired up about and the rest of us on the defensive about. We need to find a way to not get sucked into their fantasy world, even if it's just to point out their insanity. That wastes our time as well.

13. Best way to get back at them is GRIPE
Seriously--don't bother with FAUX, but if you see someone tossing shitballs on the networks, or on the other cable newsers, toss them a vicious email! Put them down at every opportunity. Do NOT sit silently and fume!

Ir is all about market share with those idiots--if we all favored baby sacrifices, they'd be ginning up a a show involving wolves and infants called "BABY SURVIVOR!"

Money makes their world go round--they do not, and have never, cared about principle...

10. It is Amazing, Though.
They can find divisve distractions in a minute. But what is worse is that it is believed--we gotta get rid of that Kool-Aid!

3. Great title for their diversions to add to the CONfusion. Once
again Rove wants to play hide the Salami rather than see Abramoff, Woodward, DeLay, Murtha, Miller, Libby not to mention himself - on the air.

5. It just depends on which NON-ISSUE of the day they are pushing.......
to divert the simple minded sheeple's attention away from the real issues or the real truth.

6. You notice there's less talk about Christmas being "too commercial"?
I guess they don't mind people being stampeded while standing in line at WalMart, as long as it's called "Christmas" shopping.

12. Well, there are fewer complaints, because fewer people are actually
BUYING. I'll be honest, I think it is much less obvious in my neck of the woods than it has been in years past. Less music everywhere, fewer decorations, and not as many obnoxious commercials.

Of course, the standard "WTF is THAT?" commercials for stupid appliances that have a single use, along the lines of electric toenail clippers or other stupid stocking stuffers, are appearing on TV, along with those goofy "gifts for mom/dad" ads for gloves, slippers, perfume, socks, and so on, that you do not see at any other time of the year, but it just seems to be less "in our faces" this year.

Maybe it has something to do with the Christmas message not being realized: Peace on earth, goodwill to men..."

8. both are expressly forbiden in the bible-
and though the fundies can cry foul all they like- the truth is, if they are black/white- 'word of god' believers, there is NO way around the 'pledge' being an idol- and swearing an oath- huge no-no's

And Christmas- with all it's falldeerall- a pagan celebration incorporated into the 'dogma' so that people would be inclined to embrace 'christianity' without having to leave the joy-ful celebrations of the solstice, and other 'non-christian' holidays-

But no in your face christian wants to hear that-

Yeah, more to come? Easter- In God we trust- Sunday blue laws- oh, man, the list is endless.

9. Or whatever is on the coins, or whether there should be a prayer
to start City Council meetings, or .....

Doesn't matter. They'll always come up with something new to whine about their "civil rights" being trampled.

It's basic Marketing 101. Just grab the microphone however you can.
