Alert: Texas Re-Redistricting Vote expected within minutes
I will be posting a list of all Democrats who vote Yes, so we can deal with them in the March primary.

2. Wouldn't it be great if C-SPAN were able to carry this live
all across the country, then the rest of us can see how stupid the Tex repukes are. And also which Tex Dems have the spine to stand up to them.

3. Go get 'em Deshotel!
Bring up the fact that Stenholm's district is Republican, yet they elect Charlie!
Same about Turner and Hall!!!

This is all futile, but damned if we don't make more sense than they do.

If the Texas Pukes succeed with their power grab, it could secure the U.S. House for them for years to come.

9. Hey blue
Have you heard when the Senate is supposed to vote? I called my state Sin today, but of course couldn't get a straight answer.

I agree with you about retaliating in March- even more so against any Dem in the Senate who votes for this. I spoke with Madla's office last week, and got the feeling that he'd already been bought off. Armbrister and Lucia might, MIGHT, stick with us and vote no. We can lose Madla's vote and still win the war, but he'll have hell to pay later.

11. They won't take this up until it comes over from the House.
Since this bill was filed in the House, the Senate won't vote on it until the House passes it.

14. Wow
I thought the map that was trotted out was from that psycho state senator from west Texas, so I thought they should have voted first. Now I understand- just took me a little while.

BTW- I was promised by my repub state rep's office that he would be voting against this re-re-districting. Watch his vote (Mike Hamilton). We are soooo going to have a campaign issue after tonight!

13. Not sure
It will have to start all over again in the Senate. I won't pretend to know how it will all unfold. I think Lucio will hold, but I don't know about Armbrister. Bill Ratliff (R-Flower Mound) is not a sure yes vote, either.

16. Ratliff
He just needs to change parties, bless his heart. He's not a liberal by any stretch, but neither are a lot of Texas Dems.

He was the only repub on the redistricting committee who voted with Laney against Cornyn's plan. I'm surprised he hasn't been run out of the repub party for that one.

19. We have been
Actually, there is nothing the House Dems can do to prevent this. Even if every Dem voted no in the House, the repubs have enough votes to pass it tonight. Still unacceptable for any of them to vote for it, though.

The real fight is in the Senate. Thus far, we may have enough votes to prevent this from passing. It all depends on 1 or 2 senate Dems. Call Armbrister and Lucia's offices!

Relating the costs of the special session and resulting legal expenses to the loss of social services! Might not change any votes, but we're making our point!

Excellent points Dunnam is making about Texas losing some big time senority in The U.S. House, like Steholm, Edwards.

"Thank God for The Senate" was Dunnams closing remark!! and He's right. This will be passed tonight by the REPUKES!!!

***************************A L E R T**************************

OUR E-MAIL BLITZ NEEDS TO START AS SOON AS THIS PASSED TO ALL THE 13 DEM MEMBERS OF THE TEXAS SENATE!!!!

Last I heard there were two Dem Senators wavering.I Think if all 13 vote NO it's enough to stop it. Does anyone have those E-mails handy?

29. A perfect challenger could knock off DeLay
His district will be made slightly less Republican, as black and Hispanic precincts are moved into his lily white district. These new "constituents" of his can be conveniently ignored by DeLay, for it will still be a solidly Republican district. However. DeLay has his share of white, Republican leaning detractors, much like Newt Gingrich had haters in Cobb County, Georgia. An impeccable candidate with a TON of money could beat Tom DeLay in the new district. Wouldn't it be funny if he lost by a narrow margin and it was because he dumped black and hispanic precincts into his district?
