NPR wonders why Dems do sex scandals and Repukes just do money
On weekend addition on Saturday, Daniel Schorr pontificated about why is it that Dems get nailed by sex scandals and Repukes only have money scandals. He "just couldn't" think of any Repuke sex scandals.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that an inquisitive and free press doesn't seem to get any traction for stories like gay hookers in the White House press corp with privileged access to inside information, suggesting that he has a boyfriend embedded with in a homophobic administration.

Or maybe because when Ahnold grabs ass, its not considered sex. Or when Alan Simpson does the same thing, it is not a scandal. Or when a Supreme Court nominee when a passion for long dongs and pubic hairs harasses someone, it doesn't' count.

Or maybe its because when you have the (R) behind your name, you get a free pass from the press for pedophilia, child molestation, wife swapping, anal sex with staffers (while married of course) that blog for the world to see.

Yes Daniel, there are no Republican sex scandals.

2. That congressman Livingstone "withdrew" when his sex life was spotlighted
During the bleak 1990s, that *-hole Gingrich resigned as Speaker of the House. The gopukes put up Southerner Livingstone and about as quickly, he was exposed by the Hustler publisher, Larry Flynt. The gop quit the House instantly.

He usually nails the Rep. leadership for the fools they are. He had an off day.

21. The Republican head of NPR has gotten his hooks into Schorr.
Schoor is very tentativve in his analysis and criticism of the Repubnlicans over the last few years. He's running scared. Sad, really. He was such a respected commentator and now he's just another Bu$h* apologist.

7. They aren't scandals" because the RW media doesn't harp on them forever
Livingstone resigns, Gingrich resigns, Hyde is forgiven his youthful indiscretion, the Spokane mayor is just local, Ryan quits, and nobody checks out Pappy Bush ever, and the Schorrs of the world forget just like that, because without Fox flogging the sex angle, it stays an internal Republlican party problem.

8. Correction, Scott Simon Said That
Edited on Mon Dec-05-05 11:16 AM by democraticinsurgent
I heard the same report. Daniel Schorr repeated something that a friend had told him: Why is it that Republicans have the money scandals, and Democrats have sex scandals?

Scott Simon responded by saying, "I can think of plenty of Democratic money scandals, but no Republican sex scandals come to mind".

Schorr said something quippy like "I wouldn't want you to think too hard", and that was the end of Schorr's time.

My two cents is that Simon is quite repukey, while Schorr, long the "conscience" of NPR, has had to mute his commentary's barbs. You can still hear echoes of what he'd like to say, but he doesn't say it overtly like he used to.

Go ahead and tar NPR, they deserve it in spades. But Daniel Schorr is one of the giants of journalism.

We are lucky to still have him.

13. Repubs don't "just" do money, they're just better at covering up
the sex scandals. Newt had a BJ scandal years ago, before Clinton, and it's interesting to compare the amount of press they got. There are a lot of sexual scandals involving Repubs ... they're just better at arm-twisting and using their money to keep those stories buried.

16. Huh? Selective amnesia! I can think of plenty right off the bat.
The ones mentioned above immediately came to mind, adding Newt Gringrich getting his knob polished by his file clerk in the Congressional parking garage (while his wife lay dying of cancer), the Spokane mayor giving away gov't jobs to pretty boys in an attempt to curry sexual favor, Bob Barr forcing his wife to have an abortion & cheating on her, IL senatorial candidate Ryan forcing his wife to go to sex swap clubs, etc., etc. I'm sure I could come up w/plenty of others if I thought about it for 10 minutes more.

Our side just gets more heat because the Dems on our side are hot and the cretins on the other side are simply pathetic pervs - ha!
