Two days in a red state
Yesterday, I attended the Atlanta Falcons at the Carolina Panthers football game. On the steps leading down to seats beside my section walked a man with a leather jacket with the following in large letters on the back: George W. Bush Lied.

This morning as my wife took our youngest son to school and was stuck in traffic, a car pulled up along side her. My son told her the man driving was motioning for her attention. When she looked, he held up a sign that said: George Bush Lies.

Hang in there everybody.

1. Cities in red states are often true blue
or at the very least purple.

3. Yes, the "red-state/blue-state" meme is somewhat misleading.
It's much more instructive to see it as "red non-urban" versus "blue urban" Somebody made a beautiful map that showed the true concentration of "blue" had nothing to do with states, it was all urban areas. If a state was "red" it simply meant that state had more non-urban population than urban.

4. True
but in the suburbs, the repukes have alot of people. Also, people from different areas come to our football games. Anyway, as long as people keep it up, others will get the message.

5. The whole south was purple, not red
If you want the reddest states, try the moron corridor from Texas up through the Dakotas, plus Idaho and Utah. The south was pretty divided, not solid Bush country, at all. Even Alabama was more Dem than those states.

Add to that the fact that southern cities have been striving for a more progressive image for a long time.

I'm a little surprised at the signs, though. Southerners generally don't do that kind of thing. I'm glad they've finally started.
