Lennon was a Brit, not an American
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 12:40 PM by CornField
 Just heard this on MSNBC.

Obviously, no self-respecting American would ever listen to a British person making a call for peace. Someone please explain to me why Americans do this? Why do we (collectively speaking) seem to believe that only people born on our soil need to be listened to and/or understood?

5. The US tried to deport him
I signed a petition to allow him to stay in the US. Don't recall if he was going to try for citizenship, but figure the FBI would try and block it if he did.

2. 65 thousand people were killed today when a massive fault
line in South Asia opened and then closed. No Americans were known to be missing. In other news, Joe Schmuckface filed a complaint with his local department of public works, claiming that a tree they cut down reduced the value of his property.

3. Does it matter? He was a genuinely caring man and I would think
that would transcend borders. But whatever, bush** et. al. are Americans (sort of). If someone or someplace else would like to claim them, well then...

FRIGGING FINE WITH ME!!

4. Personally, I listen to people from all over the world
I have British friends, Canadian friends, and (gasp) French friends. I've always listened to everyone, because that's how you learn. I'm ashamed of the haughty air of so many Americans.

6. Was MSNBC just stating a fact or were they implying that he was
a lesser voice because he was a Brit?

I'm confused by your post, but I'm easily confused.

And he was implying that Lennon's voice was less because he was not American.

11. It's funny
Paul was the most outspoken about drugs, and got busted more than the other three combined. But he was cute and charming, while John was sarcastic and married to .... well, you know.

18. Let's not forget that Thomas Paine was British
and he wrote Common Sense which got people to really consider being free from the yoke of Merry ole England. Lord knows we could be saying, Tally Ho instead of have a good day because of him.

20. John Lennon Was New York City
If Nixon hadn't stopped him, John would have become a U.S. citizen. He lived and loved New York City. He left London after his drug bust in the late 70's and tried to live in a mansion in the countryside (where he recorded the Imagine) album, but a year later moved fulltime to New York City and remained there...happily...until that fateful day 25 years ago.

21. Petition for Lennon postage stamp (FYI)
Edited on Fri Dec-09-05 04:30 AM by DesertedRose
Don't you have to be an American citizen to get on a US postage stamp? (That's a rhetorical question for the stupid cable media people)
