Could this be a solution to our Mid East Problems - the Russian scenario.
According to reports, it appears that the Russians have been forming a relationship with the Iranians. They have sold them nuclear materiels ,and recently they have sold them advanced missiles. It has occurred to me that it may be possible the US could work with Russia to restrain Iran the same way that China has been used to restrain North Korea. In other words, Russia says to Iran we will help maintain your security as long as you play nice. Don't promote terrorism and don't try to create instability in the Mid East. If a regional war breaks out, everybody losses this would be the rationale for Russia to do this.

Maybe, behind the scenes, other countries are already trying to establish this, but that would be way to constructive for the our current *administration. But the way things are going, as far as I can see, within a year or so we will have to either initiate a draft or start pulling the troops out of Iraq. At that point, they may finally turn to the Russians.

1. The rest of the world is coalescing against America
to prevent further wars of aggression. The US has become everything we feared the Soviet Union would be.

2. Whats in it for Russia?
It is to the advantage of Russia to continue to trade with Iran and for Iran to spend petro dollars on European, Chinese and Russian goods and services.

The U.S. and the Israelis have no leverage save the awful one used in Iraq.

4. A regional war could disrupt any economic benefit from their
relationship with Iran.

3. It occurs to me that Iran is a foolish nation if they trust the Russians
to give them really good missile technology and weapontry. Russia has its own problems with Muslims and other Islamics and they are now "friends" of the US against anyone Islamic and/or non EU. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could thrown them.
