Jehovah's Witness Beaten After Knocking

SAN BRUNO, Calif. (AP) - Three months in jail is the sentence for a California woman who used a butcher knife to beat a Jehovah's Witness, after the woman knocked on her door on Christmas Day.

Cathy Infusino also will spend three months in a work program and three years on probation. She pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon.

Her lawyer says Infusino was paranoid and was being harassed by neighbors at the time of the attack.

And the Fundies have no use for them because not only do they not celebrate Xmas, but they are completely neutral politically. They take Jesus saying that "you are no part of the world, just as I am no part of this world" and "give Ceasar's things to Ceasar, but god's things to god" to mean to stay out of politics completely. I always tell my mom that I thank Koresh that JWs don't vote... we don't need another 2 million Repub. votes (as I'm sure the anti choice issue would rule the day).

Another reason why fundies would not like them. The JW's can be annoying. Some of them are very persistent. But that is not justification for beating them. I might swear at them, but not beat them. That is outrageous.

...many JWs went to prison and stayed there for absolutely refusing to go to war when drafted. (unless that was just something they taught us... I have no way of knowing if that's true or not).

If there were a draft today and I had a choice between fighting an unjust war or rotting in prison, I'd probably sit in a cell too.

...We were always told that's a PERFECT time to go door to door, because everyone would be home. But even as a kid I thought it was just tactless to disrupt someone's family gathering to try and convert people.

Why do you suppose that religions are so hell bent on converting people?

I'd say that if you are a believer, then God is God no matter what religion you belong to. Why the need to have people "Worship your way"?

Is Catholcism a better line to God?
Do the Methodists have superior ways of communicating with God?
Are Pentecostals closer to heaven?
Are the Baptists wrong in their method of worship?
Maybe the Lutherans can get you on the fast track to Jesus.
I know......The Episcopalians say a better mass.

Note that I have stayed with the Christian side of things here. That's because I want to know why your way of worshipping Jesus is better than the rest.

I would think that the religious among us would just be happy to know that all of these other religions are similar to theirs in that they all respect the teachings of Jesus.

28. Yeah, that's about ALL they celebrated...

...we were told that just about EVERYTHING (xmas, halloween, even easter, birthdays) had "pagan origins" which was, well, true. But I hardly see the harm now. Pagan=evil to them. I think the argument against birthdays was that only two were mentioned in the bible, and in each someone faithful to god was killed (John the Baptist beheaded as a birthday gift in one), or they were generally presented in a negative light. As much as I vehemently disagree with nearly all of their positions (hell, I'm an atheist now), I can still explain just about all of it. It's irritating, but useful sometimes.

Now, I politely tell JWs that I'm Catholic (which, since I haven't been excommunicated is nominally true, since HMC still considers those who Her priests have baptized to be Catholic), and thanks for their time, and that's usually the last I see of them.

I've been nice enough to invite the Mormon missionary boys who are out riding their bikes in the ungodly heat of summer in for a glass of water, and if they offer to pray with me, I don't refuse them.

I've had to resort to being somewhat rude when I've gotten the occasional missionary who sticks his or her foot in my door and won't take no for an answer (that involved waking up my daddy, who came to the door with an unloaded .44, which caused dust clouds in the shape of missionaries to appear as they split rather rapidly...). But cause actual physical violence to someone who just comes knocking on the door? That goes a lot beyond anything I've ever said or done to get rid of someone who's being overly pushy.

Makes me wonder what this woman was under the influence of. The woman who attacked the poor JW lady, not the JW herself.

36. My exprience with a group of jahovahs witness visit !

As a young 15 year old boy ,I remember answering the door one day and two ladys handing me a booklet ,and started discussing this religon ,I was taught to always be polite to stangers and respect adults ,so at their persistence I listened to them for probably a good hour .I finally told them I had somewhere to go. ! They asked me if I would be interested in going to their church the up coming Sunday and again trying to be polite , I said I would think about it . Iam a full blooded Italian and my family has been Chatholic's for generations ,my Grand Parents on both sides of my family came to the US from Italy in the 1920's ! Well the next Sunday early mornig the doorbell rang ,we lived in a rather large house and my bedroom was at the end of the upstairs hallway ,so I did not even hear it ! However my mother did ,who goes to Church every Sunday ,and was probably in the process of getting ready for exactly that ,well imagine her surprise when some 15 Johovah Witnesses where at our front door asking for her 15 year old son ? she was polite however firm that we where devote Chatholic's and had no wish to go to their church. To this day I still have seen groups of them ,come into an area and go knocking on peoples doors ! Iam still polite ,however I have learned unless you are really interested ,you must firmly say no thanks and quickly close the door ,B/4 a foot stops it from closing !
