Heard just now in the Brian Williams interview with Bush...
Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 10:49 PM by Wordie
When Brian Williams just tried to ask him about three things that didn't go as planned in the Iraq War, at first Bush had to ask him to repeat the question, and then when Williams mentioned that Bush had said we would be welcomed in Iraq as liberators, here is what he said:

BUSH: ...we were welcomed, it just wasn't a peaceful welcome.

JEEZ!

1. You may be frustrated, but you must remember...
When we're talking about war, we're really talking about peace.

It's so simple, really.

2. He's nuts.
Sure. We're welcome! That's why the Iraquis went to the Arab Emerates and told them that they want the Americans to LEAVE. NOW!!!

Peace.

3. We were welcomed as liberators, it's just that the Iraqis have this odd
custom of welcoming liberators with bombs. Jeez.

And Williams didn't follow up. Didn't even seem to notice. I guess he had to promise to pretend that Bush is normal in order to get the interview.

5. As much as I dislike Williams I must agree
These whores would never get another interview if they don't give * a thorough ass kissing.

7. I think the next Democratic President should do the same thing
They aren't the press until they have a Dem to go after. And then they aren't the press because they'll support any kind of slander or assault that Republicans can dream up, all the way to an unethical and un-Constitutional impeachment.

4. Can you even believe the stupid things he says?
And these fools in the media treat him as if he were deserving of respect and admiration. It is sickening.

6. I think that shows how his mind works...and it is a scary thing.
If reality doesn't work for him, he just re-defines reality. Jeez.

8. I think he is beyond pathetic...
A sneaky little bastard who has never been told "No" his entire lifetime, and we have a media who just caters to his stupid ass. It makes me so damn mad! And Williams looked like an idiot to be so excited to get to spend the day with him! Christ, I remember when we had a real journalists, like Walter Cronkite.

11. Yeah, Williams didn't even flinch at that statement, or any of the other
strange thing Bush said. I have mixed feelings, because given the unwillingness of the Bush folks to even allow questions after speeches, I can understand why Williams really would want to do the interview, and hope to get more. And I'm sure if he pushed very hard, then Bush wouldn't be likely to do any more. Since it's a good thing to get additional access, I can sorta see Williams' side of things. And in a way, Bush is quite capable of hanging himself without Williams' assistance.

But at least a follow up...surely he could have done that much.

9. You're right, it goes beyond respect
that must be deferred to the president. There is a level of admiration there despite the lying and cheating of the country at large and even the dishonesty, secrecy towards and manipulation of the press itself. You should have heard Evan Thomas on C-SPAN this morning about Newsweek's 'Bush in the Bubble' cover piece. Thomas essentially says Bush's fine qualities work against him.

10. Is it irony, just plain stupidity, or a smirking smartass?
Whatever he does not need approval from others for personal validation. A common characteristic for a Narcissistic Personality Disorder who are commonly this callous in their judgments. I wonder if he smiled after he said that? It would be interesting to observe.

13. An old therapist pointed out to me years ago.
Narcissists frequently smile after saying something very callous or insensitive. Hence the nickname "Smirk", by those not fooled by his pretensions of grandeur. The worst thing you can do for someone with a Narcissistic Personality Disorder is give them actual power over others.
