I need some support tonite.
I usually don't watch the thing on tv because I can't stand the sound of his voice.

But I believe I should watch tonite, but I'm really struggling.

Please show me and others who I am sure have the same feelings some support tonite and tell us why we should listen to it.

1. Why bother, if you feel that way?
Same shit different day. The only fun thing about watching chimpy's speeches live is liveblogging it here on DU with the peanut gallery. :D

3. I'm right there with you.
I don't want my dog to run behind the furniture again! LOL!!! I hate how I feel after I've subjected myself to his bullshit. However, it does seem like I should consider tuning in...

Peace.

4. Maybe watch the CSPAN2 coverage...
it's not much more comforting as they are turning this into a "vote against the troops" but it sure as sh*t beats watching * babble, stumble, and make up words on network televison...

5. my children recognize his face and voice and each time they say
"That's the liar!". My children are 5 and 3.

Have a stiff drink. I plan to just watch the play by play on DU. I won't be tuning in.

6. It might be interesting for what he leaves out-the ELEPHANT
in the room. Keep tellin' yourself, "it's fun to watch him twitch, blink, and crack his jaw!" I'm sure there'll be lots of that going on...

7. Ermm.. what do you think...
... you'll be missing? Let's see...

Stay the course.
The elections give us hope.
It's a great victory.
Iraq will be a beacon of democracy in the ME.
We don't want an Iranian Iraq.

Sounds imminently missable to me.

9. Can't say if you should watch but
I'll tell you why I sometimes do.

The world sees it and I want to see what they see. Not that it makes a difference.

Sometimes I feel as you do about not just the speeches but politics in general during bush's reign. It has been one horrible thing after another from the start.

Why be attentive? It doesn't help. I will never ever vote for a republican, not even at a local level. Not possible anymore if it ever was. Vote straight Dem ticket at elections and live it alone.

So why not watch comedies, read good books and get more hobbies and quit torturing myself?

10. I really don't want to depress you further, but...
I heard a reporter (Coke?) earlier on CNN make a comment in response to a question about why Bush was going on national TV, after already giving several speeches on the topic already just recently. Her comment went something like this (I may be paraphrasing, but not much):

"President Bush believes he needs an opportunity to take his message directly to the American people, away from the spin of reporters..."

Huh???

Goes to show just how far our journalism has truly sunk, doncha think?

Don't put yourself through that. Why? Here, I can save you the trouble:

Goo gah, Iraq is great, goo gah, I'm great, goo gah, hard work, goo gah if you don't agree with me, fuck you.

There. That'll be the jist of it.

14. I stopped watching TV in 2000 when they put him in office because I knew
his face would be on every night and I've despised this lame excuse for a human being LONG before it became popular. Every time I see him I want to start breaking inanimate objects.

Tonight, however, I may make and exception. I'll take the plants down off the TV and turn it on because my fondest hope is HE WILL ABSOLUTELY LOOSE IT RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE AMERICAN POPULATION FOR ALL TO SEE.

Well, we can dream can't we?

15. I admit to a fascination
with watching the chimperor do his special little performances for our benefit. What really scares me is the ruthless machine behind this wind-up doll. To understand the nature of that more fearful Enemy Within, I feel compelled to analyze the faces of their most visible liars and mouthpieces.

I'm sympathetic to anyone who can't stomach the spectacle of our prezzledent--this demented clown who has been illegitimately installed as our 'leader'--pretending to tell us things we urgently need to know.

But I get a kind of energy from these visual reminders of what we are up against. It strengthens my resolve to fight on, every time I see him.

I can't believe how similar we are here.

I've been debating. Or rather trying to convince myself that I should watch. But my gag reflex is sensitized over the last few years. I cannot tolerate this shithead. Barbara must really be a piece of crap being. OK, enough of my opinions.

I can't help. But at least we're in this together.

OH, I have one bit of advice. I know someone who treats his speeches like they're Saturday Night Live skits. But that doesn't work for me.

18. Let's not watch and say we did
I can't handle it either...would rather wait for my favorite lefty bloggers to comment on it later. I have to admit having thoughts about him that I can't address here, everytime I see him on the TeeVee. I have to admit to laughing out loud and making snarky comments to him. I have to admit to an inside shaking rage when I see his maggoty face in my living room. Why spoil my beautiful mind....I'll wait for the commentaries.

20. Watching Bush live gives me a migraine. I don't need a migraine tonight.
It's the video plus audio that I can't stand. Because? He's a fascist. There's a fascist in charge of my country. It sickens me, and I can't let it sicken me tonight because I have shit to do.
