Beware of the Strawman Saddam Hussein
We're in a hot battle right now. The right wing is making a full blown assault defending Bush's lies.

When debating right wingers, don't fall for the strawman argument that what Bush said doesn't matter because Saddam was such a bad man. The issue IS NOT how bad a man Saddam Hussein is/was. The issue IS the "PRESIDENT" LIED TO US! To start arguing about Hussein is to defend the fragile strawman that is indefensible.

DO NOT LOSE FOCUS!

3. technical correction
Usually, Saddam Hussein is used as a red herring (diversion), not a straw man. Sorry to be pedantic, but the straw man fallacy has been misidentified a lot lately.

5. It's really not just the lying though
My reaction to clinton admitting to a lie was: A politician lying? So what? (and also: dang, those republicans sure can get hot and bothered about "dirty sex") It's not like I was expecting a politician to be honest.

The big deal is not that he lied about something, it's that he, or rather they, massacred Iraqis and got everyone to go along with it through trickery.

The republicans and the liberal media (sick), are trying to paint this as people harping on a technicality. That's what they did to Clinton. This is about military aggression, not just a lie.
