Here's another reason to hate Frank Luntz... (Davis)
... as if we needed one. When will the media stop parading this guy on television as a "respected national pollster?"

Recall forces told how to trash governor; Consultants memo advises Issas troops to "kill Davis softly"

Excerpt:

A private memo from a prominent Republican strategist offers a rare glimpse at the bare-knuckle approaches being considered to oust Gov. Gray Davis, outlining numerous ways to "kill Davis softly" in the recall effort without turning the unpopular governor into a sympathetic figure.

"While it is important to trash the governor," reads the blunt, 17-page memo from Virginia-based communications expert Frank Luntz, "it should be done in the context of regret, sadness and balance."

The internal memo dated July 10 was commissioned by Rep. Darrell Issa's Rescue California committee, which has led the effort to put the unprecedented recall of California's governor on the ballot. The committee financed by Issa, R-Vista (San Diego County) and two other pro-recall groups say they have gathered more than 1.6 million signatures in support of their effort -- far more than needed to put the recall to a vote.

Do read on for Luntz's exhaustive "17 Ways To Unseat Davis" recommendations.

Sickened,
Jennifer

1. Indeed..
These "former republican/democratic whatevers" are trotted out on so many panel shows, that they are "given" an air of respectability...People start to see that as trustworthy and their data as well..

I saw through the little toad during the 2000 "selection".. His questions were always loaded and the partisans that he chose for his group were oh-so- obvious.. on a partisanship scale, the repubbies were always a "10"...and the dems were usually a "3"...

Unfortunately, most people do nOT see though it.. They are bandwagon followers..:(

5. Complete lack of disclosure...
Luntz was the ONLY person trotted out on MSNBC to do those silly public group interviews. It was clear that he framed his questions to favor Bush and trash Gore.

Never once did MSNBC disclose that Luntz was a former staffer for Newt Gingrich.

The whole campaign had this nauseating media slant, and it wasn't limited to MSNBC. I'll still never forgive CNN for assigning the biggest media whore of 2000, Candy Crowley, to the Bush campaign.

7. I couldn't believe this
I knew Luntz was biased, but I never knew he still worked as a GOP hack. How can any news org use him? Well, I know, but this is even blatant for them.

The funny thing about this story is that Nancy Pelosi leaked the article to the SF Chronicle. Go Nancy!!!
