Now may be the window of opportunity to get your Rx drug prices under control.
The bill the House will consider this week, whose lead sponsor is Representative Gil Gutknecht, Republican of Minnesota
(!!!) would allow for the re-importation of American Developed prescription drugs from countries that buy the product more cheaply for their citizens through negotiated contracts with the pharmaceuticals firms. The US does not regulate Rx prices in any way.
Though the Pharmaceutical industry has spend nearly $100 million lobbying Congress and has made over $40 million in political contributions to our national politicians the pain felt by the American citizen in need of these drugs is beginning to overshadow their efforts. But the vote is too close to call
The leadership of the House (speaker Dennis Hastert & others) is not in support of this bill, known as the "drug re-importation bill" but possibly enough Republican representatives are moving to support it to put it over the top.
This would be a great victory for the American consumer who has shouldered the profits of the US pharmaceutical industry, almost alone in the world - see the timely NY Times Article here.
Call or Email your Congressman today to help put pressure on to get this legislation over the top. This opportunity may not come up again for years - make that call
