Progress in Iraq?
I was listening to a talk show the other day and some general was talking about how the troops in Iraq are spending so much time complaining about wanting to come home that they aren't acknowledging the significant amount of progress we're making over there. He then elaborated about the hospitals, schools, stores, etc., etc., being functional again and he said that the U.S. has made a "tremendous amount of progress in rebuilding Iraq" over the past few months. And of course with our liberal media, we're not hearing about that.

This was the first time I heard anything about any kind of progress in Iraq (aside from the oil production and some kids going back to school about a month ago). I understand that there is still no electricity or running water in many areas. Does anybody know what the situation is over there right now?

2. Not much news
At the beginning of June there was significant concern about an outbreak of cholera when summer heat set in. There has been no news.

This is ominous considering hundreds of foreign journalists have left the country out of security concerns. Are we going to find out several months down the road that 15,000 children died of fever and heatstroke?

The only ongoing non-military source that I'm aware of:
