1. Try this (long)
Fraud Traced to the White House

How California’s energy scam was inextricably
linked to a war for oil scheme

http://www.yuricareport.com/PoliticalAnalysis/FraudinWhiteHouse.htm

This story begins with the California energy crisis, which started in 2000 and continued through the early months of 2001, when electricity prices spiked to their highest levels. Prices went from $12 per megawatt hour in 1998 to $200 in December 2000 to $250 in January 2001, and at times a megawatt cost $1,000.

2. Didn't some released Energy Task Force, or Enron documents...
... reveal that the energy industry was, indeed, price-fixing? This at a time when Bush (running for pres) had blamed it on Davis, Clinton, and anybody but Enron et al. I think he said something to the effect that it was California's problem, in response to people alleging that his buddies at Enron may have been engaged in price-fixing.

5. Ask Pete Wilson, he was the Governor that signed deregulation
into action....

Davis was just the stooge who took it on the chin with the rest of us.

7. Start here, on the citizen.org site that is the single best
resource for genuine and accurate info on the energy scam... for example....

http://www.citizen.org/search/index.cfm?RequestTimeout=180

Read this to start;

Powered by Greed: Treasury Documents Chronicle Enron's Influence in Washington

An examination of thousands of documents released by the U.S. Department of Treasury since March 2002 highlight a lobbying operation run by Enron that covered a range of issues: regulation of energy trading; valuation of futures contracts in the event of bankruptcy; regulatory responses to the West Coast energy crisis; and government assistance to the company's problematic overseas investments.

The documents were heavily redacted, making the full extent of Enron's influence difficult to assess. Public Citizen has filed additional Freedom of Information Act requests for a more complete release of information concerning Enron's lobbying of Treasury.

"These documents help explain how Enron used its money and connections to distort government policies in a way that gave it a free rein to cheat consumers," said Tyson Slocum, research director with Public Citizen's Critical Mass Energy and Environment Program.

But from those few communications that Treasury more fully released, it is clear that Enron had enormous influence over government officials. Please click on the following links to access the documents and their accompanying explanations..."

10. Here's what Pete Wilson wrote in 2001
The plain and simple reason California will inescapably suffer hundreds of hours of blackouts this summer is because California will not have a sufficient supply of electrical power to meet demand. Five years ago, when deregulation was passed by unanimous vote of both houses of the Legislature (and without a murmur of dissent from any Democratic constitutional officer, including then-Lt. Gov. Gray Davis), California enjoyed an excess of supply over demand amounting to some 30 percent.

snip

The problem grew into a crisis not because of deregulation but because of Governor Davis' failure to act. That is the plain, unhappy truth of the matter. I take no joy in saying so I have been prepared to be helpful to the governor during this very serious challenge to our state's well-being, just as when I responded to his request for my assistance in passing Proposition 39 (the school bond issue) in the most recent election.

This is the same atitude they're using now to recall Davis. They're scum.

11. WTF? What does this mean?
"The problem grew into a crisis not because of deregulation but because of Governor Davis' failure to act."

What failure to act? Sounds like Wilson left Davis with a serious problem since there was a 30% surplus before deregulation and a shortage afterwards.

What could Davis have done about it ahead of time? What could he have done when FERC refused to investigated thepricing and manipulation? Wilson got rid of the state regulatory agencies.
