Is 9,OOO coalition casualties accurate?
In a local independent paper I remember reading this several weeks ago.

Elsewhere, on these boards I read something like 3,000.

Someone else claimed 2-3,000 with loss of limbs/eyesight.

Can someone confirm which of these is accurate, point me to a reliable web source? Thanks a lot.

2. I can straighten it out for you.
The number of casualties due to "combat" or "accidents" is probably right around 2500. The number 9,000 is the total number of people who have had to be sent out of Iraq. That includes people getting sick, having psychological problems, or breaking a leg, etc. These sites might have something.

3. I believe someone on Democracy Now this week
put the US casualty number at 7,000 flown out of Iraq for medical treatment. So 9,000 for the coalition seems plausible. I'm sorry I can't be any more specific than Democracy Now.

6. Here's a simple rule of thumb...
...for every individual soldier killed, regardless of the cause, there are approximately twelve soldiers that are wounded. The U.S. currently has a total of 451 dead. When multiplied by twelve, there should be approximately 5412 wounded soldiers. That doesn't square with what we're being told, does it?

Additionally, you are correct that the total number of soldiers shipped out of Iraq was reported to be approximately 9000. November was a bad month, and reporting on casualty numbers has all but stopped. My guess is that we now have shipped out close to 11000-12000 people to date.

They are also not revealing the number of badly wounded that fail to survive their treatment in a military hospital somewhere. Keep in mind that some of the wounded are treated in Iraq and then returned to their combat units. For any casualty requiring more specialized treatment, Germany is the next stop. IMHO, people dying in Germany are not being reported at all. Neither are the soldiers that are dying after they are returned to the U.S.

7. I've read
estimates of 9-12,000 who have had to be sent out of Iraq, which implies they've been wounded...
