Isn't the irony astounding?
http://startribune.com/stories/587/4224184.html

Michele Bachmann, congresswoman from Minnesota, a REPUBLICAN, said this while introducing a bill that would utterly discriminate against GLBT citizens in the state:

"If the people of Minnesota want to change the definition of marriage, then let them decide that question at the ballot box," Bachmann said. "This is the question of our day. Who will make this decision that could forever change our people? The people or, in Minnesota, four judges?"

I wonder what she thought of (S)election 2000...

1. Didn't you hear?
Shrub was chosen by God--isn't that what that whacko general said? This -person- probably believes the same.

3.  No, Bachmann's Repug beliefs are based on greed not on religion

She, like the GOP governor, would use the moral and religious canard to exploit the credulous.

2. Repuke strategy in MN for 2004 election
Get gay marriage referendum on the Nov. ballot in order to draw out fundies and other social conservatives in record numbers.

This will be at the heart of the Repuke GOTV efforts in MN this year.

The reThugs have targeted MN as one of the two 'blue' states they plan to acquire in 2004.

4. What this moron needs to realize is that
the Constitution and it's Amendments apply to everyone, they are not subject to a vote.

As another poster said , this is nothing more then a smoke screen to be used to get out the right wing extremest / fundamentalist vote.

6. Maybe I need the remedial class
but I don't get the irony. I'm hung up on "forever change our people." I doubt she means the gay people, and I'm at a loss on how changing the definition of marriage will change the others.

8. The irony is...
The poster was referring to 4 judges determining the fate of a state, with which she (the Repug) has a problem, and presumably how she (again the Repug) had little problem with 4 judges determining the fate of a nation...

9. Michele Bachman is actually a state senator from Stillwater
This actually makes her statement worse, if she was in Congress, she wouldn't be able to introduce any bills into the state legislature regarding a Constitutional Amendment.

Does Jessica Lange still have a house in Stillwater - Maybe she'd run agains this woman?
