1. Because I can do all of this...
I'M A WOMAN
Maria Muldaur
(Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller)

I can wash out forty-four pairs of socks
And have them hangin out on the line
I can starch and iron two dozen shirts
Before you can count from one to nine
I can scoop up a great big dipper
Full of lard from the drippin's can
Throw it in the skillet, go out and do my
Shopping and be back before it melts in the pan
'Cause I'm a woman
Double U O M A N
I'll say it again

I can rub and scrub till this old house
Is shinin like a dime
Feed the baby, grease the car and
Powder my face at the same time
Get all dressed up, go out and swing
Till four a.m. and then
Lay down at five, jump up at six
And start all over again
'Cause I'm a woman
Double U O M A N
I'll say it again

If you come to me sickly, you know
I'm gonna make you well
If you come to me hexed up,
You know I'm gonna break the spell
If you come to me hungry,
You know I'm gonna fill you full o' grits
If it's lovin' you're lackin, I'll kiss you
And give you the shiverin fits
'Cause I'm a woman
Double U O M A N
I'll say it again

I can stretch a greenback dollar bill
From here to kingdom come
I can play the numbers, pay my bills
And still end up with some
I got a twenty dollar gold piece says
There ain't nothin I can't do
I can make a dress out of a feed bag
And I can make a man out of you
'Cause I'm a woman
Double U O M A N
I'll say it again
'Cause I'm a woman
Double U O M A N
And that's all

19. Oh yes...
I spent two weeks of serious ouchiness each time and a handful of teeth incidences. (Not to mention sleep deprivation, etc.) However, that being said for me, it not only made me feel more comfortable with my body and appreciative of it, that special sense of nurturing and closeness with another little small person is rather indescribable. I have giving up a lot (or really put a lot on hold) being a mom and taking a lot of time and effort to really do a good job at it, but it has been worth it.

Once I graduate from nursing school, I want to work with postpartum moms (already have in a less clinical way) because a part of me has a rather idealistic notion that somehow if life can start from a happy, good footing, perhaps the work can be a better place. Maybe a bit too idealistic, but it's still within me nonetheless. :D

7. I honestly can't say that I am
I think life as a man would be a hell of a lot easier in so many ways. Especially as a professional person (I'm tired of working twice as hard to earn half as much).

On the other hand, if I were a man, I'd probably be gay because I really LIKE men, and that can't be an easy road for anyone in our society.

14. me too
I can't really think of anything specifically female that I couldn't/wouldn't do as a bloke. I've never really had a maternal urge and seeing preggo's every day where I work and hearing screaming snot-noses has only turned me off the idea even more

I guess I do like the fact that I can clean the toilet properly! But SURELY there are some guys who do that??

I was the employee of the month for cleaning shit at:
http://www.kezi.com/

I got a gift certificate at Fred Meyer for being the best shit, tampon, cleaner in the company. I spent the 25$ on beer and smokes. Ahh, the things we do for food, beer, and smokes.

10. I HATE being female
but than again I'm trans-gender sooo..

I hate these udders ,I hate the mother crap, the silly makeup, the bras that feel like straightjacket's cutting into you, nails, the way men ogle, and being an object, lipstick on the rims of coffee cups, the expectation of submission and servitude.Having to look"pretty",All the roles women are forced into by men and our culture like slut, virgin, matron,Mrs.second rate executive coffee carrier to the boss, mommy or bitch,The unnecessary bleeding every month, that MUST BE totally HIDDEN,as if it's a shameful thing,as if it's not happening, the inability to fix a car or know how to use tools, the PMS,the cramps. The housecleaning expectations.I say..To hell with womanhood.

But I also say to hell with manhood too.
The breadwinner bullshit, the expectation to dominate, the entitlement crap, the stupid ties and asinine suits, having to be 'insensitive' and impress the guys,The resistance to clean up your own messes, the inability to iron a shirt, the machismo, the dull boring dress standards, maintaining the illusion of emotional deadness and sucking it up until you get a heart attack.

The expectations society makes for these gender roles is crazy and inhumane.

Me? I identify as an bi-asexual, androgynous feline.I'm both male and female and neither male or female. I can iron a shirt AND repair the deck. :)
I'm just me, whatever I be I be..

12. The friends, the camaraderie, the support network.
Not having to worry that I'll look "gay" if I need help with something. Being able to help others without it turning into some kind of competition.

Honestly, though, what is the point of these two threads? Gloating over the perceived superiority of one gender role over another when both are inadequate?

25. Aye, there's the rub...
Sorry!:hi:
From my perspective as a man who LOVES women, I see men are the "stripper" version of the two sexes. We DO get favored treatment just because women LOVE a "good man" or a "gentleman". It pays to be nice to women. A good proportion of men have arrested development(easier to distract and control?) somewhere in the 12 year old range emotionally. We are denied childbirth, multiple "shoes" and being able to do everything at once, being stuck in the dreaming of sex for 75% of the time until we're in our later years(some never quit). Old men are only respected when they've given up sex and can relate to women as PEOPLE and not a sexual conquest.
Ignorance is bliss for men?
I dunno.

22. I used to didn't think I was.
Now, I am happy that I am. Why? Because I don't have a multitude of women chasing after me looking for someone to provide them with a free ride for the rest of their life (much like some men I know).

23. I wouldn't trade my genitals for a man's
I mean, really, those things... (kinda just kidding) :) Seriously though (ba-dum-bum)... I do not play the role society has foist upon women one iota. Haven't worn a dress in years (though sometimes it is fun to go all femme). I compete directly with men and make more than the average for my position, and more than the men around me. I'm free of the saddle that some women wear that insinuates they are, and should act, less than their man. (I did say, some, so don't go after me on that.) And I love being gay... and I'll love that even more when I get me some of those 1,300+ rights. :)

26. If Dr. Seuss Were a Woman
If Dr. Seuss Were a Woman

I'm glad I'm a woman, yes I am, yes I am
I don't live on Budweiser, Beer Nuts and Spam
I don't brag to my buddies, about my erections
I won't drive to Hell before asking directions
I act nice at parties, don't act like a clown
And I know how to put the damn toilet seat down!

I won't grab your boobies, I won't pinch your butt
My belt is not hidden beneath my beer gut
I don't go around readjusting my crotch
Or make sure my headboard bears each hard-earned notch
I don't belch in public, don't scratch my behind
I'm a woman you see--I'm just not that kind!

I'm glad I'm a woman, so glad I could sing
And thrilled I'm not covered with shag carpeting
Hair won't grow from my ears, or cover my back
And when I bend over, you can't see my crack.

I'm a woman, a lass, and I'm proud don't you see?
I'm blessed to have two breasts and squat when I pee.
I don't live for golf, or shoot basketball
I don't swagger and spit like a Neanderthal
I don't need male bonding, I don't cruise for chicks
I'll never join The Hair Club or think with my dick.
I'm a woman by chance, and thankful I am!
I'm so glad I'm a woman, not a man, yes I am

30. I am glad to be a woman now
If it was just about any other period in time I would hate it! I admit that sometimes I enjoy the power we women have over you straight men. I also like that I can be powerful and respected, I don't like that I have to work twice as hard to get that respect. I like that I could be a mother if I wanted to be, but I don't have to be one to be respected. I like that if I use power tools, I wont get nearly as many dirty looks as I would have gotten a few decades ago.

And the multiple... pairs of shoes is a nice perk too.

31. Very glad to be a woman
I certainly like the fact that I can have children as well as multiple...er, shoes. :)

However, I do hate the fact that appearance seems to count so much more for women. You can be smart, talented, accomplished...yet you beat yourself up for not meeting a very narrow standard of beauty.
