Poll question: Favorite kind of music
I'll vote for classic rock. From The Beatles to The Who to The Stones to Simon And Garfunkel to The Monkees, it deserves its splended reputation as a standard.

1. I like a couple of them...
...but I voted Modern Rock. I love Punk, and also samplings of the Classic Rock and Rap catrgories.

Yopu forgot Reggae. Also one of my favourite genres.

2. Yes, I wish I could have included more
But on the bright side, this poll could get quite a few replies and not just votes.

15. Well, since the number of options is limited..
I wanted to keep it to major genres. I'm not a reggae fan, though.

18. The blues is the foundation of 90%+ of American popular music
it is America's unique musical gift to the world, so with the exception of classical in the poll blues roots is present in one form or another, this new DU is so cool, I think I'll try a blues poll, if I can figure out a few things.

Muddy Waters Otis Rush Johnnie Shines
Jimmy Reed Paul Butterfield Honeyboy Edwards
Son House Lightnin' Hopkins Tampa Red
Elmore James Big Bill Broonzy Sunnyland Slim
Junior Wells Sonny Boy Williamson2 Magic Sam
Slim Harpo Memphis Minnie Pinetop Perkins
Little Walter Bukka White Otis Spann
Bessie Smith Skip James Johnny Young
Big Mama Thornton Albert King Hound Dog Taylor
Ma Rainey Freddie King A.C. Reed
Victoria Spivey Leadbelly Son Seals
Howlin'Wolf Blind Joe Reynolds T-Bone Walker
Robert Johnson Peetie Wheatstraw Robert Lockwood Jr.
Lowell Fulson Rosetta Tharpe Willie Dixon
Etta James Furry Lewis Jimmy Rogers
Koko Taylor Robert Nighthawk J.B. Lenoir...and thousands
more
on second thought, no blues poll, cuz it's always a botheration

7. Every Genre and time period has their best
The 60's gave us the Stones, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead
The 70's gave us Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath
The 80's gave us The Police, U2, Talking Heads
The 90's gave us Sonic Youth, The Pixies and Screaming Trees
The 2000's gave us...well nothing much yet. But it will...I swear it will

12. thanks for nothing !!!
once again, Folk and Folk Rock are relegated to "Other" ...

there is a huge market for folk in the boston area ... too bad it's largely ignored in many other parts of the country ...
