Does anyone else like soy milk, or am I just a freak?
I buy Silk brand soy milk, both plain and vanilla, and enjoy drinking it. Most people I know hear the words 'soy milk' and go 'Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww!'. Am I a freak, or what?

2. I love it!
Silk Soy Milk is the best. I highly recommend the chocolate flavor and the chai flavor is to DIE for!

4. The Silk vanilla's not bad
The regular is a tad cringe-worthy, however. My youngest had mild allergies to milk when she was a baby so we had to use the soy formula...talk about retch-inducing...:puke:

I switched her over to Silk as soon as the doc said it was ok, even at her young age her relief was evident. ;)

8. I know what you mean
We raise dairy goats and a couple were directed to us by their doctor. Their child had rejected countless formulae and was put on a particularly obnoxious soy formula that was a brownish powder. It smelled to high heaven. Well she started throwing that nasty stuff back up after about 2 weeks and they turned to us. This child looked like a classic case of "failure to thrive" which is usually attributed to abuse. But after a month on goat's milk she glowed and I'm proud to say grew into a normal and very healthy young woman.

BTW if there is anything more obnoxious then that soy formula it is store bought goats milk. I don't know what they do to it but it smells like the top of a buck goat's head when he is in rut. (from musk glands that are offensive to us but irresistible to the lady goats.)

6. Yeah, Padraig, you're a freak, my man,
but we love you anyway. Have you tried mixing the soy milk in your Stout. I heard that in the past in Ireland they would mix Guinness and milk as a medicinal. That's were the slogan "Guinness is Good for You" came from. At least that's what an elderly nun told me when we were embargoed in the Dublin Air Port. Me? I never tried it - prefer Murphy's anyway.

9. Eden Soy and Silk are both great.
I love soy milk. I think it's way more freaky to drink cow's milk which is meant for baby cows, not people.

10. We use Sun Soy...
Edited on Sat May-01-04 12:27 PM by WillBowden
From the same people who make Silk. They bought out the Sun Soy company but kept the formula.

Sun Soy plain we use strictly for cooking. It's great.

On Edit:

That doesn't mean you're NOT a freak but you are in good company!

11. It's good for you
I read it's one of the five best things for good health, the other four being fibre, water, anti-oxidants, and calcium. My husband likes low-fat soy milk in coffee and on cereal, but I prefer to eat soy (tofu).

12. I guess we all have our foibles.
I can't comment on soy milk, because I have never tried it. I will now, just to see what the fuss is about.

My personal foible is....well....ok....I like Spam. Not the kind showing up on our computers, but the kind in those little flat cans with the pull tops. There, I've said it...Now I don't have to hide in grocery stores any more!

Silk is the best brand. I like their vannila, soy nog, spice (which is basically soy nog), and the chocolate kind. Plain is pretty good too. Hmm...now I want some! 'Scuse me for a moment...:)

33. Silk milk and their ilk
My favorite Silk recipe is making chai latte with the vanilla, or strawberry-mango smoothies with the vanilla flavor. I buy mine in bulk from Costco, can either get 3 half gallons refrigerated for about 7 bucks or 10 quart containers in septic containers for 11 bucks.

No you are not a freak. I can't wait to make some vanilla pudding with it next.

37. I limit my intake because...
after drinking a daily soy smoothie for a whole summer, I developed a sensitivity to soy products that caused some unpleasant symptoms.

It wasn't just psychological either, because I got the symptoms from some canned chili that I didn't know contained soy protein.

I laid off the soy for nearly a year, and now I can tolerate small amounts.
