2. I always figured Mr Carlson for a "D"
Maybe registered "R" but voted "D" because he was too good a guy to vote "R".

5. That's my thinking, too - Carlson actually liked people and wanted
them to succeed and be happy and fulfilled. Though he is probably a *true* republican, that is, a pre-Reaganite neo-Christian idiot republican. He'd be appalled at the current republican party, methinks.

I was thinking the same thing. :toast: Herb Carlson always wants to do the right thing but sometimes can't b/c of his percieved place as station owner.

Herb was the Saleman's name. I can't remember Mr Carlson's first name right now.

9. There was an epsiode where he had to deal with a Moral Majority
type reverend. He showed the guy the lyrics to "Imagine" and the guy found it unacceptable. (Arthur) Carlson told the guy to take a hike. I figure he registered GOP cause his Mom was, but as you say, wouldn't vote that way...

3. Haven't seen it in a long time, but I think you nailed them pretty well
Sort of funny how easy it is to figure out which characters were pretty likely Republicans!

I seem to remember him standing right next to Ed Asner when Ed uttered the words that got Lou Grant cancelled - "I think we should let the people of El Salvador govern themselves". IIRC, HOward is a lib in real life. Don't know about the rest of them
