Edited on Fri May-07-04 07:45 PM by sfwriter
This is an update on the Fantasy Battles thread now archived here:

Hogwarts School versus The Fellowship of the Ring
This conflict occured when Merry and Pippin of the Fellowship of the Ring wandered onto school grounds at Hogwarts. At first, mistakenly enrolled as students all seemed well, but pretty soon Lord Voldemort cast his eyes toward the one ring. Potter and company tried to seize the ring from the fellowship for the good of all. It took the wisdom of Gandalf and his twin brother Dumbledore to sort things out.
WINNER - Merry and Pip who now have magic brooms. Vrooom!

Salma Hayek versus Jennifer Connely
For those who failed to notice, the Jello was Lime flavored.
WINNER - Every man in the audience and the Fox network which broadcast it.

MATCOM vs Catwoman and NSMA
Matcom is soundly defeated and, as per Al Sader's directives, made Catwoman's slave for life.
WINNER - Matcom

Cthulhu vs Galactus
In Galactus' tummy where Cthulhu sleeps all is not well. It takes more than simple snacking by the likes of Galactus to rouse the elder god. Cthulhu slept right through it being a sound sleeper and all. But Galactus will have such a case of indigestion.
WINNER - Pepto Bismol

Bill the Pony vs *
A battle of wits with one unarmed opponent.
WINNER - The Pony

Thing Fish vs. Normalman
Normalman quickly identifies and catalogs the differences between the vinyl and Ryko CD release.
WINNER - Zappa fans

Nexus vs The Borg
Turns out Nexus' dreams of mass murderers and even his powers come from the Borg themselves who view mass murder as "shrinkage" of unassimilated product. Nexus discovers this, rebels, and we have a six-book crossover mini-series from Dark Horse.
WINNER - Comics fans

C-3PO vs Marvin
Depression versus politeness in a battle to the death. While he is familiar with over 3 million forms of communication, there is a limit to even 3PO's patience. He finally snaps and tears Marvin limb from circuit. Marvin's dying words, "See, I knew it was all an act. You really do hate me."
WINNER - Marvin

R2D2 vs K9
Though R2D2 repeatedly gets the upper hand on K9, that doesn't stop the tenacious tin mutt from trying, time after time. Kenner licenses the all-too-cute toy line.
WINNER - Kenner

He-Man vs She-Ra
Siblings always fight, but the battle provides them with a new toy line and many action accesories.
WINNER - Mattel

This Fantasy Battle update brought to you by Democratic Underground and the fine folks at Muppet Labs. Thank you and good night.

2. I missed Normalman the first time he was around in comics
There seems to be a lot of the character's fans around here, so I'll just let you all know that Normalman is being brought back with new adventures soon.
