Anyone watch "The Shield"?
Edited on Sat May-08-04 11:28 AM by Jack_Dawson
I just watched this week's episode. What did you think of Azeveda's wife's reaction to "the incident".

(The "incident" still troubles me almost a month after the original episode, btw).

:puke:

1. I watch it...
My boss turned me onto it... I like the show, definatly different.

Maybe Azeveda is mad because he secretly enjoyed it? Julian and him may become closer. :)

You need to fill me on the latest episode though. I had it on bad I pretty much dozed off. I did hear his wife flipping out though? What did she say?

2. She was in complete denial
Isn't talking to him now. You can tell she'd rather he cheated on her with five different women than for THAT to happen. :puke:

3. Yeah, but did you see the promo for this week's episode?
There's a strong inference that he blows the guy who did it away (no pun intended), followed by shots of the wife looking at him with an adoring smile.

It's very convenient to the plot, however, that the photo of the event taken by the other guy with the cell phone hasn't surfaced. It's gonna be pretty contrived if he "gets his life back on track" and the photo shows up on the Internet (or wherever). But the whole point in this highly fictionalized shoot-em-up that doesn't reflect real life is that he's corrupt, and he's not SUPPOSED to win (while in the real world, they always win. See below).

I think NYPD Blue is a complete waste of time this season...it's definitely OVER...but in its heyday I always thought it was far superior to The Shield...IMHO.

They could have done a lot more with Esai Morales, too. What a waste.

4. "The Shield" is Brilliant,
IMHO. I've never seen NYPD Blue, so I cannot comment on that. But your implication that everything always ends happy on The Shield a la "Love Boat" is I think way off base. It's a tough show because you don't really know who to root for. You root for the Strike Team but they are such cocky law-breaking assholes that you root against them at the same time. I think the shit is going to majorly hit the fan at season's end and no I didn't see the previews for next week. We shall see...
