Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 03:13 AM by LastKnight
people of all races and economic classes dying world wide, our veterans are promised benefits they will never see, people are more concearned about the price in dollars they are paying for gas rather than the price in blood that the nation as a whole is paying for it over in desert-hell.

i cant see the light at the end of the tunnel, maybe it burned out... maybe it never existed in the first place.

unplugging from the political world does no good for me either, this is my distraction from the shitty personal life.

seriously, i need a little inspiration, can ANYONE see ANYTHING posative in these 'interesting' times?

this isnt a good day for me to be burned out on politics, i will cast my first vote in under 12 hours...

1. you are here, trying to find company in this and you have. you are not
disabled (I hope) or dead or facing the street (I hope) so that is in your favor, honey. keep the faith. I got to meet Max Clelland this morning and believe me, if he can find hope, we all can. :)

Hugs to you,

RV, hopeful (Go and vote and be proud)

3. well yea, your right...
im not disabled or dead... or facing the street, i do have a job that pays almost nothing (but its something), but its constantly in danger because sales are low... and if i dont have a job, means i wont be able to cop tuition for school this fall... and THAT worries me, although its the closest i'll be to facing the street anytime soon.

2. It really isn't good right now Knight...
I know this no way compares to the horrors faced by the Iraqis and the soldiers. But it really hit me when I spent close to $30 to fill the gas in my economy car today. The days of innocence ended on 9/11, but we may also have to look at living life on close $3/gal on a long term basis.

But I am an optimist, if life isn't worth living I would be the first one to jump off a bridge. And I refuse to believe that we can't work to make life better for ourselves and others..

6. Listen..
I grew up in the Bible belt you are preaching to the choir. I am an agnostic who lived in the Bible belt. I do live in a more progressive area now though, but do hang to your own convictions. I grew up not talking about my beliefs with others and I still don't till this day.

11. Dreaming - Very very important..."Change the Dream"....
...those by the way are the words of Shaman's from Equador that I spoke with over 7 years ago when I was in the Amazon last on a trip with some Environmentalists and Native Indian Rights Activists. The Huarani, Achuar and Schuar and other tribes there believe that dreams are very, very important. In fact, when I had a long conversation with an Achuar Shaman about the very subject of things happening in our world, he said that the "dream of the North has become a nightmare" - "Change the Dream"...

You might be surrounded by Republicans, but you are in the heart of Indian land there in South Dakota....the native indians from your state know....they are dreaming right now...make sure you join them...

5. I hear ya..
A nice long bike ride to the park is great. I sit for hours on the grass reading. Bring a towel. And some good music. Grab some warm bread on the way. Get lost in a book. I think it is essential to check out of the real world for a few hours every day. Reading the latest breaking news all day is a recipe for disaster. Get out and enjoy nature. If you live in a place with bad weather you might need to get creative..

12. Liar Deidrech is going to lose tommorrow...I dreamt it....
:)

The SD Special Election is getting very little attention in "National Media"....It is however getting some coverage here on Pacifica Radio and people I know in Democratic Circles who are active in fundraising for the Democratic party...I actually gave money to Stephanie Herseth...

Her winning is very important...its going to happen...yes, its only a "special election" with a 6 months seat, but it is symbolic and will represent the turning of the tides....

15. Don't everybody jump me for beimg corny.
HBut here's something to think on:

"When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stone-cutter
hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times, without
as much as a crack showing in it. Yet, at the hundred and first
blow, it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it,
but all that had gone before." --Jacob A. Riis

I first saw that at the Seattle Labor Temple, 6~7 years ago. Appropriately enough, it was a hand-lettered sign by the desk of an organizer. I copied it down, and have been passing it around at appropriate times ever since.
