'Sorry' sign to ease road rage

CARS could be fitted with "I'm sorry" lights or signs in a bid to reduce road rage in Victoria.

A parliamentary inquiry into road rage will consider apology signs to prevent communication breakdowns on the road.

"It has been proposed that cars be fitted with some kind of mechanism, such as a light or sign, that can be activated by a driver when they wish to apologise for their actions," a discussion paper released by the Drugs and Crime Prevention Committee stated.

Car insurer AAMI's survey of 1600 drivers in 2003 found nine out of them had been road rage victims.

The should make one for men too. That way instead of apologizing to my girlfriend I can just flash a light at her.

5. I Do It Myself

If I cut someone off or find I'm driving more aggressively than I ought to, I *alwaya* take a moment (if I can and the other driver is in line of sight) either elaborately shrug my shoulders with a palms up gesture and/or mouth the words "I'm sorry" with a slight head shake.

I've often wished I had an "I'm sorry!" sign on the family flivver!

What I find interesting is that I often mouth the words "Sorry" or "Go on," or "thank you!" to other drivers while saying the words under my breath. My passenger (either the Mrs or my kid) comments on it when I do "What, do you expect him to hear you? You're whispering!" and it always gets a laugh from the right side of the car. My dad used to do it. anyone else do it?

Also, the parental right arm across the chest fling when braking? Is that a dad/mom thing or what? I do it when the DOG's in the car! Sheesh!
