I HATE MY LIFE....
...but only because I'm sitting here at work fantasizing about skinny-dipping in a great vat of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

Why must junk food taste so damn good and vegetables taste like crap

Chocalate Chips are made mostly of vegetables. There's WHEAT flour, and CANE sugar, and don't forget the COCOA BEANS in the chips. It's just that pesky stick of butter and eggs that sour the deal....

How else could you explain it? Only a total prick would make vegetables bland and the shit that can kill you delicious.

If there was a just and loving God, asparagus would taste like chocolate.

8. I've always wondered the same thing myself.
I really hate vegetables because of their lack of taste. The only way to make them taste better is to soak them in butter/salt. :(

9. You have to get rid of all the junk food--go cold turkey
Because I at least would have an emotional attachment that was pretty hard to shake, even if I was partaking only in moderation. I would medicate myself with junk food--because damn if you don't feel pretty good for five minutes eating twenty or so fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. :D

But you know, after eliminating junk entirely, I really don't miss it.

Just look for some old quotes by Ronnie Reagan on that subject.

If you have fries and Ketchup as a regular part of your diet, you should do just fine.;-)

vegetable so it could be included in a federal subsidy for a school lunch program.

Tomatoes are indeed fruit.

That's why it was so funny. Not so funny now, how disingenuous Republican nomenclature has "evolved" since then.

I had a friend at the time who was obsessed with the first lines of novels. . ."One Hundred Years of Solitude" had his then favorite.

He intended to write an autobiography at the time that started with. . ."It was 1981, and ketchup was a vegetable. . . ."

31. If you really believe that "vegetables taste like crap," you need to

re-educate your tastebuds. Many veggies are delicious raw or slightly cooked but "taste like crap" when overcooked.

Junk food is either overly sweet or overly salty. And I say that as someone who loves Cheetos! Much of it, including soft drinks, is full of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) -- Google that and learn why you should limit your consumption of HFCS. (Hint: it's like the nicotine they used to add to cigarettes.)

If you eat more fruit and vegetables and cut down on the amount of salt you use (taste your food before you shake salt all over it, and use less salt than recipes call for), you'll soon realize how nasty a lot of junk food really tastes.

I know this sounds like I'm a health food nut but I'm far from that! I've just learned not to eat anything unless I really enjoy it. If you don't eat veggies that taste like crap to you, why would you eat desserts or snacks that taste like crap?

I still love Cheetos but I have only eaten them twice in the past year or so. If I'm going to take in extra calories, there are foods that are better tasting than Cheetos.

32. My Advice, Go To Your Local Farmer's Market,
Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 12:45 PM by K8-EEE
If you start with the really fresh stuff, a mix of whatever is in season, steam it up just right, and maybe broil a little cheese on top and maybe some fresh salsa or black pepper -- that is one of my favorite things to have for dinner! Maybe some brown rice with it too...

If you buy the farmer's produce on Sunday, it will last all week -- at the supermarkets it's already 2 weeks old at LEAST by the time you buy it!

The other trick is to wash it, cut it up and have the steamer basket all set up when you come home from work, voila! Fast food!

I have the cookie dough monkey too- I sometimes make cookie-dough soda's. DaVinci's makes a sugar free cookie dough syrup. Mix with carbonated water and a little milk or cream. It lacks that great melty soft gummy lumpy feel in your mouth-but it tastes good.

Buckwheat Groats boiled in just the right amount of salted water.

40. Tuna Curry
Fry white cabbage in pan with oil.

sling in garlic, cook for a bit.

sling in tin of tuna, cook for a bit.

Add tin of tomatoes, 1 tsp cummin, 1/2 tsp corriander, 1/4 tsp tumeric, 1/4 tsp chilli powder.

cook for a bit, serve on rice.

Very cheap and tastes OKish (once you get used to it).
