It's raining men! In pieces...
http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/25028.htm

June 1, 2004 -- A boat party in an exclusive area of Long Island Sunday night was interrupted - when a severed human hand mysteriously dropped out of the sky onto the deck of a boat, police said yesterday.
The bizarre incident occurred in the water just off the Lawrence Village Marina, where a group of boats had gathered to have a party.

One owner was in the cabin when "he heard a noise, goes out to check and finds the hand on the rear deck of the boat," said Nassau Detective Sgt. John Azzata. "At this point, we don't have a clue where it came from. It's a mystery."

3. Sometimes
Large tornadoes can spew debris for hundreds of miles. Could it have been from the massive tornado outbreak over the weekend? :scared:

6. Gee, Long Island

is pretty far away from the tornado activity... Here is the link to the Newsday article http://www.newsday.com/news/local/longisland/ny-lihand013826749jun01,0...

which suggests that the hand belongs to a handless, footless, headless body the cops found a few weeks back....

9. I didn't know about the corpse found.
So, that is probably more likely. A bird might have found it and flown off with it, or something. But, the tornado scenario, while it sounds crazy and impossible, is still plausible.

10. Where were the tornadoes?
Forgive me, but I still have a New Yorker's sense of geography ("We're here, the rest of America is there, and those lights over there are LA"). Where were the tornadoes happening?

11. Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois...
There were over 80 tornadoes in the US over the memorial day weekend, and some were very strong. Like I said, the corpse scenario is more likely, but tornadoes have been known to dump strange things many miles away from where they originally occurred. Long Island would be a stretch, but not out of the realm of possibility, especially since it is to the east of where the outbreak happened.

Of course, being New York, headless handless corpses must wash up all the time, eh? (j/k. I watch too much Sopranos)

5. Possibility:
Here's a scenario for you:

Someone dumps a chopped up body into the water. Hand floats to the surface. Gull spots floating hand and picks it up thinking it's food. Gull lands on boat with a thump because it needs a solid place to eat the heavy hand. Boat owner belowdeck hears the thump and heads up the ladder to investigate. Bird hears commotion of someone approaching from below and flies off. Boat owner finds hand on aft deck.

Blame the birds. They're in it with the mice and the gophers...it's a grand conspiracy to rid the world of cats and humans.
