Poll question: Best Comic Writer in the Past Decade
OK, I've just finished catching up on some comic reading thanks to trade paperbacks from the library. I've read Alan Moore's "Promethea" and found it to be as engaging as Neil Gaiman's early issues of "Sandman" and Grant Morrison's tenure on "Doom Patrol". I've included Garth Ennis as well as I'm familiar with his work on "Hellblazer". So, is it one of these four or another?

1. Moore: "From Hell"
explains Jack the Ripper in the most terrifying, yet plausible, way ever.

3. Moore: "Swamp Thing"
takes monsters beyond where any monster has ever been.

(I know - that's more than 10 years - Fuck, almost 20!!).

4. Swamp Thing
That whole line of work, along with Watchmen, helped DC set the stage for Vertigo. Unfortunately, rumor has it Moore's killing America's Best Comics and getting out of the business. He's had a running feud with DC that's been brewing for about 15 years.

7. Used to until my parent's house fire...
Damn, I lost so many comics then. I had Wrightson's original run from 1973 as well as the Moore issues. It was a great story from American Gothic up until Swamp Thing's consciousness was zapped into space.

2. "From Hell" and "Promethea"
I voted Moore for those two. I checked both out at the local library and geez, they're both incredible books.

8. Didn't realize what I was missing.
I picked up about 12 trade paperbacks at the library this weekend and I will be doing some shopping for the rest of the Promethea books. They beat Neil Gaiman any day.

9. He's doing Qabbalah as comics
(However you spell "QB" )

I'm more interested in seeing his entire output on this series than any one issue.

10. Trade
I read the third collection. They're nowhere to be found on eBay as a set, so I'm in for a long haul to get the series.

11. Welllllllllllll.................
I actually have originals of most of Moores work. I've been trying to convert to TPB, but I'd be willing to sell my copies at a major low price.

Actually, I have tons of modern classic issues that I'd like to sell off.

12. Check your inbox and let me know...
I sent a message a bit ago before I read this. I would be interested in the Promethea books. I've heard America's Best is going south because Moore's destroying his "universe" and getting out of comics.
