Poll question: Have you ever used a psychic?
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 01:22 PM by elfwitch
Have you ever used a psychic, fortune teller, swami, etc. (for fun or for real)?

If you are a psychic, PM me. I am curious about a few things.

1. I had my fortune told once.
She said I'd be married inside a year. It's been at least 5 years, and I'm still single. It was fun though.

2. For fun...
One time I got my palm read. The lady said I would be married once to the love of my life. I would have only one child. I would be VERY successful at a career that made me really happy.

So far I've got two if the three.

I keep hoping that third one pans out soon. I'm tired of being broke and overdrawn all the time.

11. I Actually TRIED to Go to a Psychic Once
I heard a psychic on a talk show do cold-reading of people who called the show. I didn't believein it, but she seemed very good at reading people's situations and picking up vibes from the callers. I had been struggling with my marriage at the time and decided that someone like this might actually have the right instincts on what was going on with the relationship. I had felt stuck for so long that maybe something like this might be a catalyst.

The psychic was staying at a local hotel for a few days and gave out the number of her secretary. I called her secretary and said "I'm thinking of setting up an appointment with Miss X." The secretary said: "Well, when you decide, please call back." CLICK.

I felt stunned -- I had a very definite impression that the secretary had gotten rid of me. I couldn't understand it. I eventually came to the belief that the psychic was looking for true believers or people who were desperate. I don't know if that's what happened, but that's the only thing I could figure out.

3. I had my fortune told at a carnival once.
I asked her if I would ever be rich and she said no. ROFL I guess she was right! :-)

4. I went to one last Summer for fun.
Both my husband and I had separate readings. Strange results that didn't make sense at the time, but later did. She taped the readings and said some additional things in private that at the time I found shocking, but strangely enough, ended up true (not quite as true as I would have liked, but then again, I'm still a bit in the dark about some things).

5. Fake & silly.....
If not unethical/illegal.

Just look at all the trouble "Miss Cleo" has created.

7. My cat...
When I first met my now husband, after he left my apartment for the first time I asked my cat if we should keep him. She said "Meow!" So we kept him. That was almost 7 years ago.

Of course, "Meow!" could have just meant "I'm hungry!"

9. I used her, she used me...
but it had everything to do with learning our night moves, and nothing to do with being psychic.

10. I Have a Weakness for the Tarot Deck
I've done a few readings including some on myself, and have always been impressed with the number of "coincidences" that come up. Very creepy. Can't explain them, but it fascinates me.

12. I went to a tarot card reader once, summer of '94
$5 for a reading in the cafe at Barnes and Noble. Had nothing better to do.

She told me that a breakup was imminent, because my boyfriend and I would soon be returning to our respective schools and we would be too far away for it to work.

My boyfriend and I attended the same school. We did the LDR thing during summers. My then-boyfriend is now my husband.

13. one time, and it really freaked me out . . .
back in the days when I was still in the closet, I had a huge crush on a young guy who lived near me . . . no one knew that I was gay, and no one knew that I was obsessing over this guy, who I saw almost every day but would never have dreamed of approaching . . . that's the set-up . . .

around this time, someone at work told us about a psychic that he had phoned recently . . . he said she was quite elderly, in her 70s or 80s, and would only do readings if she knew you or if you mentioned a particular name of someone she trusted . . . if she did a reading for you, she asked that you send her $10 if you could afford it . . .

well, others in the office started calling her, and people were raving about how accurate her readings were . . . they all mentioned the right name, and they all followed up with the $10 contribution . . . the whole thing got to be quite the topic of conversation over a period of weeks . . .

now I had never had any interest in psychics, but seeing as how most everyone else in the office had called this lady, I finally figured "what the hell?" . . . so one evening, alone at home, I dialed the number . . . sure enough, and elderly sounding voice answered and, as instructed, I said that so-and-so had given me her number and suggested that I call her for a reading . . . "My goodness," she said, "he certainly does have a lot of friends." . . .

the very next words out of her mouth just about knocked me off my chair . . . "So who is this young man you're so fond of?" she asked . . . I was so thoroughly flabbergasted that I don't even remember what else she said . . . when I hung up, I immediately wrote a check for $10 and popped it in the mail the next day . . . and that was one phone call I'll never, ever forget . . .

14. 'used' one, no
but i had a friend who could see.
she told me my future without my asking.

i'm not psychic per se,
but i do have a knack,
i call it intuition.

i sense or get images of events etc,
that are about to happen in the very near future.
