living in Kansas I would like to know how much time you have spent here that would lead you to believe this is so hilarious? Tourism is not a big money maker here but if you have never spent much time here you should probably withhold your judgement. Just saying.

this is being paid for by tax payer dollars, many of whom are
not rabid wingnuts.

Being from Kansas, I can tell you there there are many places there
which are beautiful and, for the most part, unvisited. Most people
have this impression of nothing by miles and miles of flat plains,
all planted in wheat... but that's only part of the state.

And Kansas USED to be much more centrist in politics, more devoid
of freepers. When I was growing up there, Bob Dole was considered
by many to be a right wing ultra hawk. Now I'm not so sure that
the label fits... conservative, yes, but not far right.

Unfortunately, Kansas itself may have made a hard turn to the right in
the 2 decades since I last lived there.
