I work for a somewhat small food processing company that only has one facility, employs under 75 people, and has partner owners that we regularly see who are working owners. One thing that I dislike about working for a small company is the owners micromanage. They can make sudden unilateral decisions that trump everything and do. A good and bad thing about the small business is that I know everyone and basically know almost everything that goes on and everyone's main agenda. Some of these not so good things make me lose enthusiam for working there. Another good and bad thing is that there are not big multilayered hierarchies. Too much bureaucracy is a bad thing but I don't have direct peers and I can't say that I supervised a department even though I am responsible for everything that a department supervisor is normally responsible for. Well, what do you think? What are good things and bad things about working for smaller and larger businesses.
