What IS it with lawyers throwing you work at 5:00?

My friends and I have been planning all day to go watch the hockey game. One is a legal secretary (I am a paralegal.) Two lawyers just gave her a giant document with a bunch of markups. Of course, no other secretary is here, because they all check out at 4:30. So all of us are stuck waiting for her. It's so maddening. If they can't get it done before 5:00, they can either 1) make their own fricking markups; or 2) wait till tomorrow. This is such BS!!! We have people waiting for us. I can't bear it I am so angry. If we'd left early like everyone else, we'd be fine. Because we work our full day, we're screwed.

I was a legal secretary for a time (1992-93). I got out of it because I could no longer stand the sort of thing you outlined above!
