Judge finds woman in contempt for violating court order on sleepovers

Stacie Meadows had planned a wedding for this weekend, not a stay in Metro Jail.

But jail is what the divorced mother got. It happened when a Nashville judge found her in contempt of court for repeatedly sleeping in the same bed with a man — her husband-to-be — while her 7-year-old daughter was in the home.

Meadows, 29, was jailed because she blatantly violated a court order and lied under oath about doing so, an attorney for the woman's ex-husband said.

But legal experts said Meadows' case is one that illustrates how courts look down on single parents' sleeping in the same bed with romantic partners while their children are in the house.
