3. For appliance, does an IPod count???
I love techie toys far more than I love anything to do with cooking. But if I had to pick something in the kitchen, it would be my espresso machine, because I can't live without it.

I like summer too. But somewhere other than San Francisco, because it's always foggy here! I love the sun and the heat, and wanna live someday on the Mediterranean.

Yeah, superpower would be to enlighten everyone that killing is wrong and not the way to solve ideological disagreements. Guys can use their testosterone in far more constructive ways:grouphug:

4. Welcome to DU!
As a fellow Bay Arean (and a Pacifica resident!) I share your pain about the fog. Have you found those pockets in the Mission that stay sunny?

5. Actually I live in SF near City College
And it's ugly out there today, guys! Pacifica is even foggier, but it's a funky beach community that's probably never gonna get too populated because of the weather (and Devil's Slide--but now you're getting the tunnel, d'ya think the tourists will come?) so I like it. I used to live in El Granada, and a piece of that road was always falling into the ocean :o .

Thanks for the welcome! I've been a member for awhile, but I hang out more at Smirking Chimp, because the threads are a little easier to follow. But this site has better smilie logos!!!!!

1. Fave kitchen appliance
My awesome Kitchen-Aid mixer. I don't know how I lived without it!

2. What is your favorite color?
periwinkle/hydrangea blue

3. What is your favorite season?
Spring! I love all the new growth, working in my garden after the long winter, and enjoying the pleasant temps, since summer in Texas is oppressive. Oh! And bluebonnets!

4. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
A truth detector. I'm sick and tired of people lying to me. I want to be able to do an Al Franken impression whenever someone bullshits me.

5. If there was just one person from the past you'd like to go back and talk to, who would it be?
My dad. I really want him to see how I turned out, and how I really tried to be a good person, even though I only had 13 years with him. I want to see how he would feel about what's going on in our country right now. I think he'd be really proud of me.

6. What is your favorite cartoon?
Pepe Le Pew or Bugs and Daffy tunneling to get somewhere. "I knew we shoulda taken that left toin at Albuquerque!

9. I don't usually do these, but I like this set of questions, so ...
1. Kitchen appliance

I saw somebody else also has a Kitchenaid mixer. It's immensely cool for baking bread -- especially now that I'm starting to see signs of the family arthritis in my hands, and kneading bread for ten minutes becomes a pain. Literally.

2. What is your favorite color?

That narrow band of the spectrum ranging from indigo through black. Any shade therein will do.

3. What is your favorite season?

Autumn, still. It's the only thing I'd miss if I left the Midwest, other than family, of course.

4. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

It's not a superpower I've ever seen in any superhero, but dammit, I want an 'undo' function in my life like on a word processing program! I want to be able to tell people to bite me, then undo it and say what I really should say.

5. If there was just one person from the past you'd like to go back and talk to, who would it be?

Probably my dad, even though we talked lots while he was still alive. I married the second time after he died, and I'd love for him to meet Mr. Nownow -- the two of them would have loved each other.

6. What is your favorite cartoon?

Most of the 'Adult Swim' slate on Cartoon Network -- Oblongs, Sealab 2021, Space Ghost ... hell, I even get a charge out of Harvey Birdman.
