very little, very short-term relief to what is a long term problem. And it would permanently damage a fragile ecosystem and obliterate the livelihoods and cultures of indiginous people.

I think people can 'destroy' something so incredibly beautiful because they aren't really aware that it is so incredibly beautiful.

Subhankar Banerjee's photographs of the ANWR were scheduled to appear in the Smithsonian, but many were pulled from the exhibit because the Administration felt they would fuel public outrage over possible drilling.
