Oh, what a circus, oh, what a show,
the USA has gone to town
over the death of an actor called Ronnie Raygoon
We've all gone crazy
mourning all day and mourning all night
Falling over ourselves to get all
of the misery right!

Oh, what an exit
That's how to go!
When they're ringing your curtain down
demand to be buried like Ronnie Raygoon
It's quite the sunset
and good for the country in a roundabout way
We've made the front page of all
the world's papers today

The truth is, yes St. Ronnie of Raygoon
While all this howling is very "consoro" (consoling)
What kind of God has lived among us?
How will we ever get by without you?

He had his moments
He had some style
The best show in town was the crowd
following wherever he went, soaking up all his platitudes
But that's all gone now
As soon as the smoke from the funeral clears
We're all going to see and how
He did nothing at all!!!!!

From "Evita", with apologies to Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. I thought of this song tonight, and just how appropriate it is to this situation. Almost none of the words have been changed; it really fits, doesn't it?

1. So let me get this straight: Not only do you like folk music and Barry...
...Manilow, now I found out you're an Andrew Lloyd Weber fan, too?

We may need to rethink our relationship! ;)

4. Is now a good time to confess to you
that I've been having a secret, but very torrid and intensely passionate affair with Johnny Depp?

"Will you still love me tomooooooooooooorow????":P :bounce: :bounce:

2. "Applause"
I used to have the entire soundtrack memorized {{{{blushing furiously}}

I found myself humming "And the money kept rolling in from every side" today while reprehensor was watching something about Republican fundraising.

3. LOL!
I have, indeed, thought of that song when hearing about repuke fundraising! And don't blush, I've got the entire soundtrack memorized also, as well as that for Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Cats!

9. I was in Jesus Christ Superstar in 8th grade!
I was Pontius Pilate. We didn't have enough boys to play the guys' roles, so we had girls with short hair playing them. (I had a grown out Dorothy Hamill cut)

Wait...let me get into character...ahe...ahem....

"Die if you want to, you MISERABLE MARTYR!"

:-)

It drives reprehensor crazy. He hates Andrew Lloyd Weber. So sometimes I walk around singing the stuff just to annoy him.

and Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Very, very apostate.

Fifteen bad jokes from Monty Python as your penance, young lady.

"Holding the flag is taking care of the nation
Folding the flag is putting it to bed for the night

I fell through a hole in the flag!

6. We're all gonna see...how he did nothing for years!
Sing you fools, but you've got it wrong!
Enjoy your friends because you haven't got long.
The king is dead...the king is through
He's not coming back to you.
Show business kept us all alive
Since Twenty January 1981
But the star is gone
The glamour's worn thin
That's a pretty man's state for a state to be in
Instead of government we had a stage
instead of ideals a primadonna's rage
Instead of help we were given a crown
He didn't say much but he said it loud....

Who am I who dares to keep his head held high while millions weep?
Why the exception to the rule?
Opportunist? Traitor? Fool?
Or just a man who grew and saw from 17 to 25
His country bled - crucified
He's not the only one who died!!!!
Sing ya fools but you've got it wrong!
Enjoy your friends because you haven't got long
The King is dead - The king is through!
He's not coming back to youuuuuuuu!
