1. Are you having it removed? Having asymnetric enlargement of
a tonsil can occasionally be due to a lymphoma (the tonsils are "lymphoid" tissue) and should at least be checked out on that basis alone.

3. Nope, no removal necessary
Doctor says there's no infection, it's just irritated by my sinus infection draining (I've got polyps). It is really annoying and somewhat painful at times. Though sometimes, I'd like to reach in and remove it myself!

Now, come on Freepers, I'm cranky!

4. Don't sinus infections blow?
I had one last week. I get them once or twice a year. Thankfully I had my tonsils removed when I was a kid, but my throat did swell a little.

6. Mine doesn't blow, that's the problem!
I know, bad pun. :spank:

But, yes, they really suck. Apparently I have one fucked up sinus. When I went to the dentist recently, she took over 18 x-rays and after looking at them, told me that my left sinus was huge and went farther back then most people's. Great. :eyes:

10. Wow
My brother and I have messed up sinus systems. He has some great sinus surgery stories about the instruments they used up there and what came out of his nose for the next week. Fun stuff.

13. hehe
My brother was told they pulled out stuff with the consistency of rubber cement. Imagine that! That's why I'm afraid to go to a specialist who will tell me how bad off my sinuses are.

14. Rubber Cement?
While that disgusts me to think about, I can imagine that is not too far from the truth of what is in my nostril right now. :puke:

The funniest thing is, I never had any problems until my late 20s. No allergies, no sinus infections, only the usual colds.

5. No, I am not.
I finished two courses of antibiotics for my sinus infection and they didn't clear it up. Now I'm on a cortisteroid nasal spray to see if that will shrink the sinus polyp and clear the infection. If not, next step....a sinus cavity CAT scan!

8. well best wishes for a speedy recovery and good outcome....
I grew up during the time when small town surgeons used routine tonsilectomies to pay their mortgages. Mine fell victim to my first sore throat-- "gotta get those nasty tonsils out!"
