Perhaps.

4. Yep, it only took me one day to be banned at certain other forums...
...of course, with my views, that was predictable. Here, though, I have managed to make quite a nuisance of myself.

8. Well, I must admit, I don't have the hacking skills that I would need
to find proof of this.
There have been, however, several threads in the last few days that have dealt with controversial topics. These threads were a bit too controversial, and were yanked by the moderators---a move that I have no problem with whatsoever, mind you; the mods do a great job here at DU, and I am always impressed by their responsiveness.

Also, there have been several threads in which I have posted rather long responses--some of which have been written with the specific intent of starting a heated dialogue. These threads have gone untouched.

Finally, in recent days, I have noticed an odd phenomenon: On a few posts, I have been the last person to post on a thread.

All coincidences? Maybe. I'm not a big serendipity person, though.

Now, mind you, I enjoy DU. I enjoy many other discussion forums, too. I am a political news junkie with what could be considered rather "progressive" tendencies. In general, I enjoy anything that allows me to procrastinate what has become a rather fruitless post-graduation job hunt. I'm not going to storm away in a massive flame-out.

Even as I write this, my irritation seems a bit silly. I can't quite pin it down. Why exactly would I be offended by a lack of responses to my posts, anyway.

Ah, forget it. Call it a side effect of stress: Delusions of persecution.

9. i feel the same way...
the only ones i might have pissed off are cat owners, and although their number appear legion on du, i can't see a few black humor jokes about felines being the reason. at first i thought it was a "you gotta earn your bones" thing, so i plodded through with many thoughtful replies to many inane oms, anticipating the day when i could hear what other people think of my thoughts and ideas. no such luck yet, and as i pass 500 posts it's obviously not the reason. i have gone from "they think i'm a freeper" to "my posts must sound really stupid". then i thought it was because i do most duing during the morning hours, and my thoughts were too somber for the light fare of morning du. lurking and posting at night proved to be no different. my current analysis is it's just a matter of numbers, as the forums seem to grow exponentially in the last few months. maybe we should have a newbie forum that is only for people with less than 1000 posts.
