What was the worst of the 80's?

Besides the Reagan Administration...

Here are some of the stuff I hated in the 80's...

Izod shirts and the rest of the preppy thing,
Camero's,
Trans-Am's,
the Brat Pack,
The "I've got mine Jack" uber-materialistic - greed is good attitude,
and most of the music that was popular with the masses - uh cough - Michael Jackson - cough.

What about the rest of you?

3. The notion that it was "OK" to hate certain groups of people.

Like AIDS victims, gay people in general and anybody who wasn't a white male. The notion, which sticks with us to this day, that Greed Is Good.

7. the fact that as a divorced woman

I could not work enough hours to support my family properly on what the state of Indiana paid me and while I was working so I could pay the rent and put food on the table my kids were missing some VERY important parenting that I was just to darn tired to do and their no good dad did not think was his responsibility

10. Don't you think that people were a lot more "in your face"...

in regards to 'greed is good'? Or am I just more able to choose to ignore that mentality as I get older? It seemed like it was a lot more toxic back then but that's just me.

I think the overall level of toxicity has grown and moved from the "greed" thing to hating Liberals. But I'm ignoring a hell of a lot more stuff now than I ever thought I would!

The whole 80's, the general swing back to the "MC-Carthyism" type thinking, Nancy Regan & her "Drug wars" campaign & the seemingly "revert" to so-called "christian" type thinking.....


Moses, gave us the Law unforgiving, unrelenting, judging.


Christian comes from Christ.....who really taught acceptance of one another (The beautitudes)

I can remember sighing in relief when Clinton was elected in '92. I felt as though the 80's had finally ended in earnest.

I have some type of psychological aversion to that kind of thing. It's not just that I hated it, there was something else to it that made me VERY emotionally uncomfortable.

21. I like izods and the preppy look...but the worse of the 80s

was my mom moving away because her husband didn't like the fact she had a bunch of kids. I was three weeks into my freshman year in college when she called me on the phone at school and told me they were moving. It was not part of the plan that I ever stay with them during breaks so it was rough finding a place to stay during winter and spring breaks.

Other than that personal thing...some other things bad about the 80s was the fact that all pop music sounded the same with that same electronic beat.

Movies celebrated the "I got mine, so I want to keep you from getting yours" mentality.

The rise of corporat rock such as Journey and their ilk.
