5. the 36th anninversary of Robert F Kennedy's murder passed
w/out any newsmedia notice, as usual. Bobby's murder was part of the 'de-democratising' of the USA, which impacts modern politics a lot more then D Day (we 'won' 2nd world war by june6/44 anyway) or death of ronald mcdonald....

Edited on Mon Jun-07-04 06:37 AM by greatauntoftriplets
He was very old, and tired of living. But it is sad that his presence is gone from this world.

A :toast: to Uncle Jim.

On edit: Now I have no living aunts or uncles.

I'm sorry to hear of your Uncle Jim's passing.

When a loved one passes away, it's like a candle being snuffed out.

My thoughts are with you.

26. Tony de la Rosa died
"CORPUS CHRISTI — Tony De La Rosa, an accordionist who helped shape the Tejano music industry, died Wednesday from complications following surgery, according to Rick Garcia of Hacienda Records. He was 72.

"De La Rosa helped revolutionize conjunto music by adding drums and electrifying the bajo sexto or 12-string guitar in his post-World War II band, creating a new style called tacuachito."

Hear a clip of his music here--& some by other Texas accordion heroes (& heroines).

He was not supposed to go until January but the recruiters say otherwise. I suspect they manipulated the paperwork to improve their quota but I haven't suggested that to the parents yet.

35. Creed breaking up!
Just kidding. The band is going on anyway: without Stapp. I was most saddened by Smarty losing. It would have been such a nice ending to the whole story. But as Avril says on her great new CD: "so much for my happy ending."
