Swimming Pool help needed
please! Is there a way to sanitize a small pool with a filter (the kind that you blow up the rim and it rises as you fill it) without chlorine. I don't want my kids to swim in chlorine but I bought this pool with a filter and I didn't think I needed anything else but after I filled it up I read that I needed chlorine for it. I guess I'm pretty dumb about pools, I never had one before.

Thanks for any info.

2. Bromine is used to sanitize spas and some pools.

It is less harsh than chlorine, and more stable. You don't need as much of it to provide the same sanitizing properties.

3. Bromine will work.
But, the reason most people use Chlorine is because it is much MUCH faster. Using Br alone I don't think you'd want the kids in the pool for several days, where with Cl you could jump in in just a few hours.

Up to you, both are halogen derivatives, both are dangerous chemicals, both will kill germs, and that's the goal.
