Let the healing begin by watching "She Devils On Wheels!"

The man who brought you "Blood Feast" and "2000 Maniacs" offers the Citizen Kane of all-girl motorcycle gang epics, "She Devils On Wheels."

The heartwarming story of a group of women called The Man Eaters, "She Devils On Wheels" has one central premise: ""Sex, guts, blood, and all men are muthers!"

Here is a brief excerpt from Amazon's description (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/6305944334/qid=1086641633/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-9086257-2808829?v=glance&s=dvd):

"The all-girl motorcycle club the Man-Eaters is a swaggering, brutal bunch who like to be in the driver's seat. They race for first pick among the "stud line" that await them at their favorite watering hole, pound a rival hot-rod gang into the ground in a turf war (and then strip them for good measure), and drag a boy-toy behind their chopper until he's a raw, bleeding pile of hamburger. Why? Because one of their number likes him just a little too much."

The DVD features commentary from director Lewis and the patriotic, inspirational short subject "Biker Beach Party."

And while it has been a difficult weekend for some (and understandably so), let's face one simple truth: If "female hellcats ruling their men with tire-irons as their instruments of passion" doesn't restore your "Amer-I-CAN" spirit, you might as well let the terrorists win and become an "Amer-I-CAN'T." After all, "swaggering, brutal women" are what made this country GREAT!

1. Make it a double feature with "Faster, Pussycat, Kill! Kill!"
And I'm there.

2. I actually saw "Faster, Pussycat"
at a double feature with "Pink Flamingos" at the American Film Institute back 15 years or so ago...what a blast!!!

And yeah, "She Devils" is a trip too...some of the absolutely WORST acting ever (a trademark of HG Lewis films)...

3. I can picture that double feature
Sounds fab. Sometimes bad acting can cure all your ills. :D

4. Oh Man, Russ Meyer's stuff is L-O-N-G overdue on DVD...
...but consider it a double feature in spirit, and a salute for your excellent taste in fine cinema.

5. 'THIS IS MY HAPPENING AND IT FREAKS ME OUT!"
As Ronnie "Z-Man" Barzell so eloquently put it in "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls." :D

6. Arguably the finest film ever written by Roger Ebert
...featuring Playboy Playmates Dolly Read (Mrs. Dick Martin), Cynthia Myers, and Mrs. Russ Meyer, Edy Williams.

...Ebert reminisces here:

http://www.suntimes.com/ebert/ebert_reviews/1997/08/081101.html

A sample:

"When Meyer and I were hired a few years later to work on an ill-fated Sex Pistols movie called "Who Killed Bambi?" we were both a little nonplussed, I think, to hear Johnny Rotten explain that he liked "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" because it was so true to life."

7. It has so many truly great/awful lines:
"You're a groovy boy. I'd like to strap you on sometime."

"At least it's not a uniform worn by FREAKS!"

"The Kelly Affair? It's very '50s. You might as well call yourselves The Haircuts!"

So, every time we read one of Ebert's effusive raves about a film, bear these in mind.

8. I think I'll have to pass on this one...
A friend gave me the Something Weird Sampler dvd and I saw more than enough HG Lewis to last a lifetime!

cool theme song, though!

She-Devils On Wheels Theme Song "GET OFF THE ROAD"
(words by Sheldon Saymour)

We are the Hellcats, nobody likes
Maneaters on motorbikes
We own this road so you better get lost
When you hear the roar of cut-out exhaust
Bug off or you'll find that you've blown your mind
Get off the road, Get off the road!

We know man's made out of clay
He shootin' clay pigeons today
Get off the road before we have crossed
Or you might get your rear-end tossed
Gonna be uptight,we're ridin' here tonight
Get off the road, Get off the road!

Maneaters!...Maneaters!...Maneaters!...Maneaters!!!!!
